A Conversation With Heidi Swanson

Q: What does "super natural" cooking mean to you?

A: It just means eating and cooking with ingredients that are as close to their natural state as possible. Minimally processed — cream paddled into butter, tomatoes made into sauce, that sort of thing. I like to know what I'm eating and where it came from.

I've had one of these for the past couple of years, and we break it out for waffle-centric family brunches constantly — waffles, a quick frittata, coffee and some fresh juice. Everyone is happy!

Interchangeable Personal Embosser Plates >
I love being able to personalize things, and have had one of these since the '90s. They make great gifts as well.

Traditional Finish Charlotte Molds >
I have these in an assortment of sizes and love to bake little cakes in them. Butter and flour the pan well, and you're set.

Le Creuset Signature Round Dutch Oven >
The one pot I couldn't do without. I use it daily for soups, curries and all manner of sauces. Bonus point for being able to go from stovetop to oven.

Wesco Kickmaster Trash Can >
I've had this trash can on my wish list for months.

Fire Escape Farms Seeds, Set of 3 >
We've had a small planter box of edible flowers, herbs and leafy greens for the past couple of years, thanks to Fire Escape Farms seeds.
