CURATE YOUR COLLECTION
“You don’t have to have all of your liquor on the bar cart,” explains Dzafic. Display only your best bottles, and keep the rest in the kitchen cabinet so the bar cart doesn’t get too crowded. When selecting bottles, think about height too. “I usually display three to five bottles of varying heights, which adds a nice dimension.”
A personal memento, decorative object, or even your most beautiful glasses look great on a bar cart. “Try something fresh but striking, like a tall orchid or a beautiful antique bowl filled with citrus,” suggest Dzafic.
Use trays to help divide the bar cart into zones, then use boxes to store small tools. “I have one coordinated, stylish set of bar tools that is displayed on the bar cart; the rest I stash away until I really need them to make drinks,” says Dzafic.
CHANGE WITH THE SEASON
Switching up your bar cart is an easy way to refresh a room without much investment. “In the fall I display mini white pumpkins on my bar cart; in the holidays I do red bows and a garland,” says Dzafic.
PREP FOR A PARTY
When guests are coming over, the bar cart switches from practical storage space to most popular spot in the house. To let guests mix drinks themselves, set out an ice bucket and some glasses and then keep it simple. “I set out a few liquor options, a clear mixer, and bowls of freshly cut lemons, limes and oranges then let guests serve themselves.”
