Rated 3 out of 5 by Bobby from Good Quality, But... I generally like cast iron and particularly Lodge, but it simply doesn't heat evenly, it's too narrow, and the ridged side is hard to clean and season.Date published: 2020-01-15Rated 4 out of 5 by WillotheGlen from I wish it were aluminum Cast iron is great, don't get me wrong: durable, predictable, easy to care for – but it just doesn't conduct heat as well, or as evenly, as aluminum. Granted, part of the issue is that my range has different-size burners front to back, but with a heavy, non-stick coated aluminum griddle I was able to balance the heat and get a uniform temperature across the entire cooking surface. With this griddle I am unable to do that, resulting in cooler areas in the middle of the griddle, between the burners. It's not super critical for some applications, but it does make a difference for my Sunday-morning pancakes.Date published: 2019-11-26Rated 5 out of 5 by CastIronSusan from Great Griddle I've been 'researching' double-burner griddle/grills for several months and finally decided on this Lodge model. I am happy I did! The surface- level handles sealed the deal -- it stores flat and no accidental burns to my wrists. Once you have it properly heated, it's perfect for pancakes, eggs, bacon, grilled fish, etc... It fits nicely on my gas stove-top, and the 'gutter' catches the grease so my food isn't sitting in fat. I'm used to cast-iron, so seasoning and clean-up has not been an issue for me.Date published: 2016-12-14Rated 3 out of 5 by cookinginflatland from this griddle is just ok I am not loving this griddle. I find the working surface to be too narrow--I couldn't get 2 pieces of french toast next to each other. I actually struggled to get 4 pieces on the griddle. I was using a slightly bigger loaf of bread from the breadsmith, but it wasn't that big! However, my biggest complaint is that it doesn't dissipate heat very well. I am preheating the griddle for quite a while on medium-low heat. The pancakes over the burner are often too brown, while those in between the burners are just right.Date published: 2016-04-28Rated 5 out of 5 by spacecat44 from Works on Bosch Induction All of my cast iron is Lodge and just like my skillet and Dutch oven, this griddle works great on my induction stove. I have a Bosch induction cooktop that has 5 cooking areas: one large circle in the middle and two on each side. The side areas can handle two separate pans or combine to create one longer cooking area for a long griddle like this. I've cooked pancakes, French toast, various meats, etc with no issues. Just treat it like any cast iron, use a thin coat of oil before cook and no soap when cleaning.Date published: 2016-02-11Rated 5 out of 5 by Nkresch from Great purchase We were looking for a good indoor grill & griddle for our range...and we've found it! Great heat distribution! We love it!Date published: 2016-02-01Rated 5 out of 5 by Marino from Great Grilling I bought this grill about 35 years ago. It finally had to be thrown out. I will buy another one. Great for a professional stove with the large burners. I grill meats, chicken, fish and veggies on it. Love it. It isn't fancy but who needs fancy. I have a lot of cabinet space so not a problem for storing. If you have limited space this could be a problem. Also follow instructions for cleaning and using and you will not have a problem.Date published: 2016-01-26Rated 5 out of 5 by Christopher14 from Great Product! Exactly what I was looking for. I own several other Lodge products and this one is just as good and exactly what I was looking for. The dual sides are perfect for all types of cooking. Highly recommended!Date published: 2015-12-05
Does this work with a 6 burner wolf has stove Hi Jnewton, This double burner grill pan will work on gas & electric stovetops.Date published: 2019-10-14
Can you use this product on ceramic smooth top electric range (non induction)?Hi Gring, Cast Iron cookware is not recommended. If the cookware has a burr or rough spot, it will scratch the glass surface. Additionally, it is slow to absorb heat. Once this type of cookware heats up, especially on high heat, it holds an intense amount of heat which is transferred to the cooktop. This can cause the element to shut down as a response to the temperature limiters which indicate surface temperature is too high for cooktop components to handle.Date published: 2019-08-05
What is the grille coated with? Does "preseasoned" mean non-stick coating? Thank youHi Jeanne, Pre-seasoning a cast iron pan means to create a slick and glassy coating by baking on multiple thin coats of wax or cooking oil. This will protect the cast iron pan from getting rusted and makes for a non-stick cooking surface. But once food starts to stick or you wash the pan with soap or steel wool, you'll need to season it again. You'll have to continue to season the pan over its lifetime. Here are the re-seasoning instructions provided by Lodge: Preheat your oven to 350 to 400 degrees F. Wash the cookware with hot, soapy water and a stiff brush. (It is okay to use soap because you are preparing to re-season the cookware). Rinse and dry completely. Apply a thin, even coating of melted solid vegetable shortening (or cooking oil of your choice) to the cookware (inside and out). Place aluminum foil on the bottom rack of the oven to catch any dripping. Place cookware upside down on the top rack of the oven. Bake the cookware for at least one hour. After the hour, turn the oven off and let the cookware cool in the oven. Store the cookware uncovered, in a dry place when cooled.Date published: 2019-01-28
