Rated 5 out of 5 by Belle from Great improvement over our previous grinders Very surprised at how well this grinder addressed our goals. First, it’s the least noisy of all the grinders we’ve owned (but still noisy). Secondly, there is almost no static that causes the ground coffee to cling to the container. Before, I would grind coffee in advance to let the static dissipate; not an issue now. A surprise is that I can leave the top off the collector part, put a slightly folded cone filter in it and grind directly into the filter! Rolled my eyes when my dear husband ordered this, but I am sold now! No issue with messiness, very clean process for us. It’s smaller than our previous grinders, too.Date published: 2018-09-09Rated 3 out of 5 by Alex from Makes a mess I like everything about this grinder, except for the fact that it sprays grinds onto my countertop. I have to cup my hand over the cup while running the machine, and even then there's a bit of spray. That said, the machine is versatile and much quieter than my previous grinder.Date published: 2017-11-25Rated 5 out of 5 by Reggie from Perfect Grind I research coffee grinders before I bought this one. I love the program use for how many cups of coffee I am making and what type of coffee maker I will use. I use both drip and percolator coffee machines. I only make two cups in the morning before work and get the right amount of coffee needed to make a perfect cup of coffee. The machine seems easy enough to use and so far been working great.Date published: 2017-10-20Rated 5 out of 5 by cawags from Great coffee grinder Just bought this to go with my new coffee maker which replaced my old grind and brew unit. Simple to use and easy to select the correct amount to grind.Date published: 2017-10-06Rated 4 out of 5 by SandiegoMatt from Decent for the price Have used for three weeks and enjoy the ease of use and customizable grind time settings. Easy to clean but follow the Breville website because a lot of information online can be misleading as to what products or methods to use. It was between this grinder and one other that was much more expensive and considered superior by coffee enthusiasts, and ultimately chose this one based on cost but am wary about how long the electronics will last. So far I am more than pleased with how good my espresso tastesDate published: 2017-03-19Rated 4 out of 5 by LCAhwahnee from Great grinder with few issues. This is a great grinder once you have the settings for the preferred grind and amount. I like the size of the bean reservoir. Grinding is as simple as pushing a button, waiting (for me 23 seconds) then dumping the fresh grind into a filter without measuring. This grinder fit under my slightly lower kitchen cabinets, so great for a personal home grinder. We could not use the porta filter holders - wrong size for an old gaggia expresso maker, so we will have to be more cleaver to use this. Also can't use the included container, as it seemed to cause static so the machine CLOGGED (INTERNALLY!!!) AND COFFEE WENT EVERYWHERE!) We just use a wide "working" glass to grind directly into and dump it into our coffee makers gold filter - no clogging or mess. If there are options for 2 different presets, so we could 1) grind just the right amount & Size for espresso and 2) just the amount size for automatic drip without having to reset for each grind/amount, I haven't found it (but it could be there.) If not there this would be a great recommended improvement. We record these settings and 'blue' tape to grinder or refrigerator.Date published: 2017-02-26Rated 2 out of 5 by pedcrna from Good features but had to return I liked so many features of the grinder but I returned it after 2 weeks because the motor had a burnt rubber smell that made the coffee taste odd. There are 2 vents in the back of the machine. The burrs are quality. The electronic display allows a precise grind time and amount. The side dial makes it easy to adjust the grind size. I used a grind size for drip coffee and the size was uniform. The hopper is large and the lid fits tightly. I like the easily removal bean hopper. The magnetic drip tray is conveniently removable for cleaning. When the lid is on the grinds container it doesn't fit well under the grind chute. I replaced it with a Baratza Virtuoso. As a comparison it's a more simple machine. The timer is imprecise so I measure the amount of beans to get the correct amount of ground coffee. The hopper is smaller, is not removable and does not have an airtight lid. The grind size is adjusted by twisting the hopper. The Baratza is more expensive but the coffe tastes good.Date published: 2016-09-24Rated 5 out of 5 by Jaybar from No Counter Mess. Easy to Maintain. I have used the product for slightly more than three weeks. Grinder leaves almost no counter mess. It is very easy to remove the hopper and the upper burr. I grind exclusively for Chemex and use the Chemex Ottomatic for brewing. I find that the default upper setting of 6 and at the coarsest setting of 60, this grinder produces quite a useable grind, when using the Chemex Ottomatic. For those using the Ottomatice, I also recommend using the brew clip as this gives a second air channel and improves draw down. If the clip is not included in the Ottomatic, contacht Chemex. I am impressed how easy it is to maintain (take apart) the grinder for cleaning. I have also experimented with raising the uooer burr setting to 9. The grind is quite coarse, but very uniform (relatively) compared to other grinders I have had. I weight my beans and am therefore not concerned with timer accuracy.Date published: 2016-03-06
How many ounces per each cup should I factor in to know how much coffee to grind for 40oz? Hi Mawhite02, The generally accepted ratio of water to coffee is 55 grams (1.94 oz) of coffee for every 1 liter (33.8 oz) of water.Date published: 2019-02-25
