Irish Coffee
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (or any special occasion) with a classic Irish coffee, made with whiskey, freshly brewed coffee and lightly beaten heavy cream. This festive drink is the perfect choice for brunch or an after-dinner tipple, and it’s easy to customize to your liking. The chefs in the Williams Sonoma Test Kitchen like to start with an Americano base and add a dusting of espresso powder on top of the cream. Ingredients:
- 8 tsp. sugar, or to taste
- 1/2 cup whiskey
- 2 cups hot brewed coffee, or as needed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream, lightly beaten to form soft peaks
Directions:
Place 2 tsp. sugar in each of 4 mugs. Add 2 Tbs. whiskey to each mug, then fill with coffee. Hold a spoon, rounded side up, over each mug and slowly pour the cream over the spoon, floating it on top of the coffee. Serves 4.
