Rated 5 out of 5 by Stephanie from Two Years Later Still Going Strong I bought this two years ago. I was skeptical and could not believe I was about to pay this much for a coffee maker, but it's worth every penny. Makes wonderful coffee and super easy to use and clean.Date published: 2020-01-07Rated 5 out of 5 by Lwood from First one lasted 15 years ... had to have another My first one finally died, so I tried a couple of highly rated, and less expensive options. Both had 'basket' filters, and regardless of how much coffee I used, or the grind level, I couldn't get a good cup of coffee!!! So after returning both I ended up back with the Technivorm Moccamaster, and my mornings were once again very satisfying!!Date published: 2020-01-02Rated 2 out of 5 by Coff E Snob from Disappointed I had high hopes for this coffee maker based on my research and previous reviews, but unfortunately I have been disappointed. Pros: simple to use, fast, heats water perfectly and looks pretty on the counter. Cons: The biggest issue is the hot plate is far too hot even on the low setting, which very quickly ruins the coffee. It also means you can’t walk away while it’s brewing or you come back and the pot of coffee is ruined. For the price of this maker, it is shocking the hot plate isn’t better. Although it is clearly stated - also note it doesn’t have an auto on/off function. And lastly - the price. I have used less expensive units that brew a better cup, and unfortunately will not be purchasing this again in the future.Date published: 2019-12-18Rated 1 out of 5 by Diana from Basket backs up I have returned this coffee maker twice because the filter cup backs up frequently and overflows spilling coffee and grinds all over my counter. Not to mention the handle coming lose and almost coming off the pot. Do not buy this coffee maker - the coffee is good for the first couple of months than it falls apart.Date published: 2019-12-11Rated 5 out of 5 by Creative1MN from Makes an excellent cup of coffee! We purchased yesterday based on a recommendation from our sales person. The design is so different from a conventional coffee maker but after having on the counter for a day I’m in love. Easy to use and brews quickly. The power cord is a bit bulky and there is no function to set and wake up to coffee brewed.Date published: 2019-12-10Rated 1 out of 5 by Morgan2012 from Extremely disappointing Super disappointed that after 18 months the carafe handle is breaking off from underneath - it clearly cannot handle the weight of a full pot - and the drip insert regularly backs up, flooding my counter with coffee and grounds. For this price, I expected much better. I purchased this thinking I would finally have a coffee maker that lasted more than a year or two. Joke's on me, apparently. More expensive is not better. No more electric drip machines, I'm done with them.Date published: 2019-07-23Rated 5 out of 5 by 50Pontiac from My quest for a great coffee machine has ended! Purchased this machine from WS about 9-mo.'s ago and cannot be more satisfied. Originally, I got the one with a carafe but wasn't satisfied with the temp. so a very easy exchange later and I'm a happy camper. Very simple to use, just add water, a filter and some good coffee, make sure the filter basket setting is OPEN then turn this sucker on and about 6-mins later the pot is full and hot. You can even remove the top of the brew basket and admire the coffee bloom! You will also be surprised about how quiet the unit is, none of that typical "slurping" sounds you hear from most other machines. Probably because of a very efficient pump and heating element. I decalcify per the instructions every 100-pots (simply clean when you finish a box of filters) and you're good to go. Over 200 pots and I haven't had a single problem with my machine. It literally has only 2-buttons and a brew basket setting, that's it. Automatically turns off after 90-minutes and it actually snaps the button to off which is kind of cool. The only small gripe I have is no automatic start timer, but it so fast it really doesn't matter. Pros: Simple classic design, quiet, fast, coffee is nice and hot, consistently great coffee. Cons: No automatic start timer. Yes this is an expensive machine, but it is definitely a quality machine and I have no regrets in the purchase or my experience with Williams Sonoma.Date published: 2019-03-20Rated 5 out of 5 by Babs from Top notch coffee in a top notch machine I have had my Moccamaster for over 14 years and it still makes the same excellent coffee! It requires descaling periodically, in particular when it gets loud, but that is very easy to do, and after cleaning the machine will be very quiet. I highly recommend this coffee maker.Date published: 2019-01-06
Does this machine also filter the water itself before going into the coffee?Hi Miky1574, No, you have to fill the cool water reservoir to the desired level, with fresh filtered or bottled cool water.Date published: 2019-12-02
What’s the best grind setting for this? I was thinking a Medium/Fine but I’m not sure. Hi Miky1574, According to the product manual, "Technivorm Moccamaster filtered drip grind should be on the coarser side. The grind affects the extraction of coffee soluables, which affects the flavor of your brewed coffee."Date published: 2019-07-15
