Staub's innovative enamel coating takes cast-iron cooking to the next level with improved performance, style and durability. The oval shape, cast-iron construction and heavy lid of this oven make it ideal for roasting a chicken to tender perfection.
- Heavyweight enameled cast iron transfers and retains heat evenly.
- Red, Sapphire Blue, Basil, Sesame and Graphite colors feature a multicoat enameling, which creates a glossy, vibrantly colored "majolique" finish that resembles fine ceramics.
- Matte Black selection features multicoat enameling with low-gloss matte finish.
- Resistant to rust, chipping and cracking, the coating requires no additional seasoning like some other cast-iron pieces.
- Specially formulated black matte interior enamel of each piece contains traces of quartz, giving it additional heat resistance and a rougher surface resulting in better browning.
- Lid knobs on Red, Sapphire Blue, Basil and Graphite pieces are made of nickel-plated brass; lid knob on Black Matte is brass, and lid knob on Sesame is bronze.
- Dishwasher safe.
- Made in France.

- More about Staub
Staub traces its origin to the Alsace region of France, where founder Francis Staub designed his first enameled pot while working in an old French artillery factory in 1974. With the goal of creating the perfect pot for cooking the region’s traditional hearty soups, stews and braises, he combined cast iron, the most popular material of the time, with the latest enameling technology available. Today, Staub still makes its cookware at a traditional atelier in France, casting each pot in an individual sand mold, which is heated to 800°F and destroyed after use. The exterior enamel coating is made with glass powder and mineral pigments, applied in two or three coats to generate brilliant glossy colors.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Natalie from Great Customer Service & Products I purchased the 33CM/7QT Oval Cocotte in Graphite last month and have been so impressed with this product. My husband cooked a large chicken with vegetables which was perfectly cooked due to the lid with marinade features. I have been a previous consumer of Le Creuset products which I passed on to my adult daughters. I now own three other Staub products including the LaMere Fish Au Gratin, Basil Tree Cocotte and Orange 3.5 Pumpkin. I appreciate the features and colors of LeCreuset, however my husband & I prefer Staub because of the marinading feature on the lids of their products and selection of stunning colors and designs. Like LeCreuset, I also appreciate their product warranty and was quite pleased when I contacted the Staub Customer Service Dept Rep for information on their products! Thank you Staub and Williams-Sonoma!Date published: 2019-03-08Rated 5 out of 5 by Tropicalgirl from Can't go wrong with Staub This arrived last week and I've used it twice, it's perfect!! Lots of surface area for browning and high sides so nearly no splatter. Beef ribs on the stovetop last night were to die for. Best of all there is a lot of broth for stew or soup tonight. I just love Staub. All the benefits of cast iron without the hassle, no seasoning, no dirty pan sitting out. I always use a light coat of vegetable oil and let it heat up on medium-low for about 10 minutes or till I can smell the oil then add your oil of choice for browning or sauteing, a little butter for doing eggs and the pan becomes virtually non stick. If something sticks its because you didn't let it get hot enough. Cleans up as easily as ceramic or glass. If there is a food shadow a little Bar Keepers Friend polishing cleanser will take it right off, only use it on the dark interior of the pan, it will dull the exterior enamel. In the two years since I discovered Staub I've replace all my stainless steel, except for my sauce pans, with Staub and they all still look like they just came out of the box. The sesame is a neutral tan and compliments the rest of my collection which is the deep, dark red grenadine. At this sale price I couldn't pass it up. Someone said in a review that the lid did not fit tightly and I thought I had the same problem, but turning the lid around seems to have been the solution.Date published: 2018-07-29Rated 5 out of 5 by TheVig from Nothing but the best! We got the 8-1/2 oval quart in the sesame finish. Worth every penny. This will compliment very well the two 3-3/4 quart round Staub essential ovens we already own. Stop wasting your money on cheap knockoffs, and step up your cooking game. Its not just great cookware, but its a heirloom too.Date published: 2018-04-21Rated 5 out of 5 by ConsumateCook from Got two for big dinners I got two of these in the bright red because they are so spectacular. There is a larger size but considering that the one bigger is 30# empty, I considered two of these a better choice. They are a dream. You can do anything with them and they look fantastic.Date published: 2016-08-05Rated 5 out of 5 by Wheatpenny from Elegant Cooking Vessel After years of cooking I purchased my first Staub. Nothing compares, it is quality at its finest and you can really cook anything in this. It will become your kitchen staple and will last a lifetime if taken care of. I ordered the sapphire. I did return it for the red only because the sapphire is so deep and dark and I was expecting more blue in the cast. Overall, a great purchase.Date published: 2016-02-17Rated 5 out of 5 by JR212 from Great Investment! This Dutch oven from Staub has proven itself to be a great addition to my cookware. I also own several Le Creuset pots and they are of the highest quality as well, but there are some unique advantages with Staub. The small spikes which are placed on the underside of the lid really do work as a self-basting feature. In addition, the channel within the lid seems to keep moisture from escaping. I was really impressed with this design when making my favorite Beef Stew recipe on the stovetop and noticed it was keeping excess moisture in the pot rather than having some of it run down the outside, which I had experienced with the Le Creuset making this same meal. Great quality and a lifetime warranty from Staub, so you can't go wrong with these! The color choices are vibrant and rich too. I decided on the Graphite which looks great with stainless steel cookware.Date published: 2016-02-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Watergirl from Gorgeous Pot This pot is simply gorgeous - I ordered the basil and the color is a deep, rich green. On top of being beautiful to look at the performance is wonderful. So happy I purchased this pot. Many more Staub pots are in the my future!Date published: 2015-10-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Huente from I use this as a slow cooker I love my Staub french ovens. I cook everything in them -- chili, roasts, chicken whole and braised, soups, jim lahey's french boule. I also use mine as a slow cooker by covering it up and leaving in the oven at 175-200 all day, the nibs on the underside of the top keep the moisture circulating. I have a 4qt round and a 7qt oval. I give these as wedding gifts because I know it will be an heirloom.Date published: 2015-08-30
Will the 7qt oval hold a large whole chicken? How does it compare in effective size to the 9qt round?Hi Polly, A chicken would fit in both. 10 lbs roughly.Date published: 2018-12-24
