Rated 5 out of 5 by Leslie from Fun R2D2 Popper!! My kids opened this as a Christmas gift. It has been really fun to use! We use the scoop to measure the popcorn. We use Orville Redenbacher White corn. Some didn't make the bowl, and went on the counter, but fun to watch little R2D2 spitting out popcorn! The popcorn was perfect and delicious! Out of hundreds of popcorn pieces, only about 15 kernels didn't pop. I was worried when I read the other reviews, but now we are sure we love this R2D2 popper. Now go sit down with the R2D2 head part that doubles as a bowl with your popcorn and pull up a Star Wars movie!Date published: 2020-01-09Rated 5 out of 5 by doggosbecute from Perfect gift! I bought it as a Christmas gift for a friend and we ended up using it all day. We found that using the little measuring cup/butter warmer to measure out how much popcorn to put in was perfect. It does spit out some un-popped kernels, but nothing to the degree of some other machines I've tried. Super cut and a fun add on to any kitchen! Would definitely recommend anyone who is a Star Wars fan to get one and try it out. It was fun and easy to use and set up, something great for someone who wants popcorn fast as well.Date published: 2020-01-03Rated 1 out of 5 by capybaras from Hurls torching hot popcorn kernels all over There is no way anyone tried this out before selling it. Like most air poppers, you put one ladel full of kernels in, and throw some butter in the ladel as it sits above. One difference is the air vents are directional, so it spins the kernels. Like the Last Jedi, at first I thought this was cool, but it is bad. Very bad. Once you turn it on, R2D2 suddenly remembers that Anakin is Darth Vader, freaks out and starts spewing kernels all over your kitchen. Literally 50%-75% of the unpopped kernels will be expelled before they can reach popping temp, leaving you with a small amount of actual popcorn and a huge mess. The rest will hurl in and pop inside your bowl, like thermal detonators being tossed in your bowl causing popcorn to shoot everywhere. This is great entertainment for your kids, and a ton of fun for you to clean up. We have another air popper that hasn't changed its design in like 50 years, so I don't how it's possible they messed this up. Stay away.Date published: 2019-12-28Rated 2 out of 5 by Carrie from Pops like R2 needs a tune up. We received this as a gift so we kept it. It does not pop but about half to 2/3 of the kernels. Flaming hot kernels and popcorn go flying EVERYWHERE! Seriously, unpopped kernels will melt any plastic food bags nearby and if they hit your bare skin, ouch! But hey, it's R2. That's what you're paying for.Date published: 2019-11-16Rated 1 out of 5 by reviewthis from Makes a mess and hardly pops kernels This worked great for about the first 5 uses. After that, not only does it only pop about half of the kernels, but it also throws kernels all over my kitchen. It has also started shutting itself off. It is also louder than most vacuums, so forget about trying to use it late at night. With a price tag of over $100 with tax, you will be purchasing a cool looking loud kernel thrower.Date published: 2019-10-18Rated 4 out of 5 by Alli137 from Cute and functional! I bought this as a Father’s Day gift for my husband and I am surprised at how much we both love it. It adds a bit of whimsy to the kitchen and works great! True, there are unpopped kernels, but this is our first popcorn machine and we had more unpopped kernels when we made microwave popcorn so that doesn’t bother us.Date published: 2019-08-11Rated 1 out of 5 by Josh from Only popped half the kernels! Pros: It is cute, and if you want to use it as decoration, then you might like it. Cons: It only popped half the kernels. The other half end up in the bottom of the bowl. I have a $30 Cuisinart popcorn maker that pops the exact same kernels, that I only find about 10 kernels popped.Date published: 2019-07-02
Do you have to add oil when making popcorn? My husband bought this for me for Christmas and the instructions are missing. Hi JohnSmith17, No, oil is not needed. As we don't have the ability to add attachments here, we will email you a copy of the instruction manual.Date published: 2020-01-02
What is the maximum quantity of popcorn kernels that can be added for each cycle and what is the duration of the heating time? Hi Casma, User manual states to never use more than one ladle (100 grams) of kernels at a time. Popper cycle is noted at 3 mins There may be unpopped kernels left in the inner popper. Cautions advise to run no longer than 5 minutes at a time and allow approximately 10 minutes in between uses.Date published: 2019-03-20
