Rated 2 out of 5 by Gwen from Plastic edge did not last long The microplane is a handy tool to have. It is comfortable and easy to use. However, the plastic around the metal planer did not last very long at all. It cracked and integrity was compromised within 3 months of use. I was careful and got another year out of it (Only used it 4-6 times a month) until it completely gave way. I did not use the microblade with the plastic catcher as I did not need it. However, I wonder if that gave it some extra strength. William Sonoma, please fix this problem.Date published: 2019-09-16Rated 1 out of 5 by Bosredsoxnut from Love this tool! Although cover is broken! I love this tool! But will probably have to toss it. As others have said, it’s super sharp. I received it as a gift and the cover was broken from the start. I tried to get a replacement from WS, but they declined since I did not have a receipt. Hopefully others have better experience with the tool. Too bad WS doesn’t want to make their customers happy.Date published: 2019-01-08Rated 2 out of 5 by Sbp07 from Rips everything up Rips the life out of most things, tines are pretty aggressive.Date published: 2018-03-20Rated 5 out of 5 by ColoradoExplorer from In its 3rd Year I was surprised to read the user that says these graters fail or have issues. I have used this Microplane grater for 3 years with exceptional results. After each use, it goes in the dishwasher and to this day, it works as good as new. Ordering a different size today. Highly recommended.Date published: 2017-07-26Rated 2 out of 5 by Rudi from Good at first The Microplane Paddle grater worked great when I first started using it. Over time (~ 2 years) with regular use and only hand washing the plastic edging around the grater blade started cracking and breaking off to the point that it is no longer usable because plastic falls into the food and the measuring sleeve no longer fits onto the grater.Date published: 2017-04-24Rated 5 out of 5 by supershopper from Quality Grater Just what you would expect from W-S. It's seriously sharp, and I like the plastic 'container' that you can attach to catch the product as you grate it. It turns around for storage and keeps the sharp grates concealed. Love it!Date published: 2017-01-17Rated 5 out of 5 by Boomer48 from Awesome Tool Where has it been all of my life. Smooth grating, and the 'catch' basket is brilliant.Date published: 2016-11-08Rated 5 out of 5 by RJordan from Best for Zest! I'm a huge fan of Microplanes and have two, a fine and a coarse, that I've used for years. But it was always frustrating doing citrus zest - the fine just wasn't fine enough and much of the zest got wasted sticking to the grating surface. I just used this very fine grater for the first time making a lemon ricotta pound cake, and cannot get over how much fine zest this little device produced from one small lemon. Be still my heart - this is one fabulous and essential tool for anyone who uses citrus zest in their cooking. I'm telling all my foodie friends to get one.Date published: 2015-12-06
