More about Le Creuset

The first Le Creuset foundry opened in 1925 in Fresnoy-le-Grand, France, and specialized in cast-iron cookware. The cast-iron pieces are still made at the original factory, using the traditional techniques of hand forging and casting in individual sand molds. The brightly pigmented porcelain-enamel glaze that first set Le Creuset cookware apart from other cast-iron cookware now comes in a wide range of traditional and contemporary colors. In 2013, Le Creuset began producing innovative stainless-steel cookware in Portugal with lids that incorporate the same signature three-ring design as the company's classic cast-iron pieces. This stainless-steel collection was awarded the prestigious 2014 Red Dot Award for product design.

In 2019, Le Creuset has increased the Stoneware warranty from 5 years to 10 years.

This is a reflection of the confidence we have in our product performance and the company's commitment to producing quality stoneware.

The warranty covers faulty workmanship and/or materials when the product is used in normal domestic conditions in accordance with the care and use instructions provided. It does not cover normal wear and tear, commercial use or misuse of the product.

Defective stoneware will be replaced free of charge, or replaced by a similar product or one of equivalent value if the original product is no longer in production. Replacement with the same color cannot be guaranteed.

Damage caused by normal wear and tear, accident, misuse, abuse or commercial use.

Scratches, stains, discoloration, corrosion or damage from overheating to the interior or exterior of the pan.

Consequential damage is expressly excluded from this warranty.

The warranty begins on the date of purchase by the original owner, whether a self-purchase or received as a gift.

To make a warranty claim, consumers should call the Le Creuset helpline at 1-877-CREUSET (273-8738) to obtain a Returns Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number prior to mailing their cookware to us.

Once an authorization number is received, the product should be mailed to the address below. We recommend using a traceable means to return the product as Le Creuset of America, Inc., is not responsible for damages or lost or stolen merchandise. A return address and a brief note explaining the defect should also be included. Turnaround time on returns is typically two to four weeks after receipt of an item.

  • Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lives up to its raving reviews Researches have shown that cooking with cast iron is best for health vs. the non-stick pots/pans. So when I moved, I finally took the plunge to invest in a 5.5 qt Dutch oven this summer. I’ve used it several times since and I must say it lives up to its reputation of being a high quality pot that cooks delicious food. Being cast iron, it’s very heavy so that is the only con for me. It’s perfect for making a bit pot of soup. It’s easy to clean as well. No regrets purchasing it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my new Ocean Le Creuset pots Put off buying Le Creuset for a long time but jumped on the recent sale. You only live once... why was I waiting to have great cookware? Been having fun making old fashioned goulash and warmed up some navy bean soup for lunch. Bought the 5 1/2 qt size and just waiting for it to arrive to make a huge pot of chili!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware defective product... Bought this (3.5 qt, Flame) and was really excited to use it, washed it, and started cooking with the lid off until I had to put it in the oven to braise. Found out the lid doesn't actually fit and it teeter-totters side to side. Not secure at all, so you can't braise like this. Pretty upset considering how I heard these were supposed to be the best of the best quality and they let stuff like this get by. Will not order online again.

I can do anything from sauces, stews, soups, pot roast, risotto, and briskets. The list can go on. Love the durability and quality of the product. Easy to care for and clean. Bar Keeper's Best Friend works like wonders on stubborn stains.

  • Hi! Interested in purchasing this, but I have a ceramic stove. Is getting a Dutch oven that is too big/heavy suggested? Looking at the 4.5 quart.

    Asked by: Pumpkin
Hi Pumpkin, Although cast iron cookware is induction compatible, we do not recommend using it on a glass top cooktop because it may scratch the top. There is also a danger of dropping the oven and cracking the glass.

I got the rose dutch oven and noticed that the black coloring is coming through the pink color..on the handles and the bottom a bunch. Is that common? Also on the lid the name isn’t raised or 3D as it seems in the pictures.

    Asked by: Emily
Dear Emily, We sent you an email earlier this year requesting for you to send us some images of this issue you're seeing. If you're able to send them to us, we can then forward them over to our Cookware merchant to review with the vendor. We hope to hear from you!

What’s size 26? Can we cook on glass electric cooktop?

    Asked by: Lulu
Hi Lulu. 26 means that this dutch oven has a 5.5 quart capacity. Although this is induction compatible, we don’t recommend this for ANY glass cooktops (electric or induction). The reason is the weight of cast-iron due to possible damage such as scratching the top from sliding the heavy pots or even dropping the pots and breaking the glass.

Is french Grey color a WS exclusive color?

    Asked by: Dawle001
Hi Dawle001, Yes, French Grey is an exclusive color for Williams Sonoma.

The LC 7.25 qt cast iron dutch oven claims to be 11" diameter and 5" tall. The LC deep saute pan claims to be 12" diameter, 5.25" tall, but only 4.25 qt capacity. How can the deep saute pan be wider and taller, but have less capacity?

    Asked by: Mike
Hi Mike, The height for the deep sauté pan includes the domed lid. The Dutch oven has a traditional flat lid. The sauté pan dimensions are: 12" diam., 3 1/2" high; 5 1/2" high with lid.

I am not sure which size to purchase of Le Cresent Dutch Ovens. Or if the round is better than the oval.

    Asked by: Bake
Hi Bake, Shape and size really depends on what types of food you typically cook and how much of it you cook at a time. An oval dutch oven can better accommodate a whole chicken or a large piece of meat such as a leg of lamb or pork tenderloin. As for size, a 5.5-qt. round oven serves 5-6. Here's a size guide for reference:
