Rated 4 out of 5 by GrandmaA from Love this coffee maker! We have had this for 7 years, and I love it. We don’t use it much because it takes too long...when I get up in the morning, I am not at my best, so I like my coffee right away. Taking the time to heat the water, grind the beans, and then it takes a lot of time to pour it in, well, by then I am just...done! That is my problem, not the coffee makers. It is great. We used to use it every day for years, but I got tired of waiting for it to make the coffee....again, not the coffee pots problem.Date published: 2020-01-05Rated 5 out of 5 by Teddy59 from Simple but the best way to make Coffee I bought this close to a month ago. Just need to have a Kettle to heat up The filtered water. I also heat 16 ounces of water, to preheat the Chemex. Once heated I put in the Chemex including the filter, to get it wet. i then start my Kettle. Put in 16 ounces of water, in Kettle. I burr grind 3 tablespoons of coffee. I dump out the heated water, to preheat the Chemex, pour enough hot water to get grinds wet, so it blooms, wait 30 seconds, then pour slowly the rest of water, into Chemex. Makes fantastic coffee.Date published: 2019-06-30Rated 5 out of 5 by Dunadan from Since Forever I currently use a Chemex that I have been using since the 1970's. Insert filter, add coffee and do the pour over. It is a wonderful unit and I would never change to anything else. My coffee is so smooth and free of the metal tang that I can actually save a cup for the next day and reheat it on medium in the microwave. Truly amazing.Date published: 2018-04-07Rated 5 out of 5 by imdogoflanders from Simply the best After trying the whole gamut of coffee makers, my husband and I chose the Chemex coffee making system, in 1988! We make coffee in our Chemex every single day, and would never go to anything else. Also, Eight O'Clock coffee whole bean coffee, the original version, is by far the best coffee around.Date published: 2018-03-26Rated 5 out of 5 by mark from GREAT DEVICE!!! I love this thing! My electric coffee makers were not giving me the great taste I wanted so I ditched the K cups, mr coffee, and cusinard, and bought this. my coffee tastes fantastic with the chemexDate published: 2017-11-09Rated 5 out of 5 by birdiemom from best coffee Just tried this today. Have been using a French press but just too much oil and acid. Researching on the net, someone recommended using a med. coarse grind. This did not work at all. Tried it again with a med. grind, and it was just perfect. Almost thought I would return it---glad I tried it again. Very easy to use--I have the 3 cup. Excellent customer service here at WS, I bought the wrong filters at first and they did everything to help me get the right ones. 3 tbs. of med. grind did the trick for me. Best coffee, smooth, no acid--no complaints! Delish.Date published: 2017-04-09Rated 5 out of 5 by TeeLK from Love it I am very happy with my Chemex coffee maker for several reasons. It makes good coffee, I like the way it feels when I pick it up and pour from it and -- well, this is personal -- but it reminds me of some good friends who had a Chemex coffee maker. I've known them for around 50 years and when I use my Chemex coffee maker, I think of them.Date published: 2017-03-06Rated 5 out of 5 by PegKel from Simply the Best! The Chemex Pour-Over w/Wood Collar makes "the" best coffee. Granted, it's more work than pushing a button but every drop of coffee is worth it. It's so great I am going to purchase one as a housewarming gift for a friend. I would recommend this coffee maker to anyone.Date published: 2016-03-16
Is this hand blown or classic?Hi renj, This is Classic.Date published: 2019-12-27
What filters do you use in the 3 cup, everyone that I looked states it is for the 6, 8 or 10 cup maker. If you get the 6 cup can you make fewer than 6 cups of coffee?Hi spe1953, Chemex makes filters for their smaller sized coffee makers. Unfortunately, we don't carry their 1-3 cup coffee filters in our assortment. We don't see why you couldn't brew less coffee in a larger Chemex coffee maker. Just make sure you use the right amount of water to coffee grounds.Date published: 2019-08-25
How difficult is this to clean? Or keep wood and leather clean?Hi Annie2769, Here are cleaning instructions for the Chemex: 1) Finish the coffee, discard the grounds, and make sure the Chemex is cooled down. 2) Remove the wooden handle by untying the leather cord. 3) Scrub the outside of the carafe — especially where the wooden handle has just been — with dish soap and water. If you have stains or mineral deposits that don’t come off, adjust the next step. 4) Pour equal amounts of distilled white vinegar and warm water into the carafe and fill it to the brim. (If the exterior of your Chemex needs a deep clean, submerge the entire thing in the mixture using a washtub, bucket, or your kitchen sink). Wait a few hours or overnight to loosen the coffee oils or mineral build-up. 5) Pour out the vinegar-water mixture. Run warm water into the carafe as you scrub the insides with a bottle brush. 6) Once the glass is clean, wash it one more time with dish soap and water to remove any remaining vinegary taste. Let dry.Date published: 2019-08-25
