  • Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great espresso maker My husband and I LOVE coffee so we wanted a nice coffee maker to start making our own americanos in the mornings. I also occasionally prefer a latte if I have the time. This is an excellent machine and we’re very happy with it. We get compliments anytime someone sees it on the counter as well which is nice. The only “gripes” I have is that sometimes the coffee isn’t as hot as we’d prefer and the obtaining the correct pressure, it takes some practice. Other than that, it’s really great to begin with. When we’re ready for an upgrade maybe Breville will have come up with automation like Jura which aren’t nearly as pretty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and easy to use! I bought this espresso machine about a month ago and love it! I keep leaning new ways to make delicious coffees and have impressed my family and friends! I also read the information guide on “how to” and watched several videos which gave me insight while I was leaning new procedures and steps. Great purchase!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great espresso, machine not so much Bought on 12/15/19 and it leaked terribly the very first day so off to Breville it goes. It would have been nice to have the machine at least a few months without an issue, but a day? When the tank is left in the kitchen counter is basically flooded with water by the time we get home. Even with the machine off, it leaks and we’ve read every community form and troubleshooting answer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everyone Loves this Machine!! My husband and I bought this machine 5 or 6 years ago as our Holiday gift for each other. It was been our most favorite and prized possession ... besides our children, or course ;). This was our first espresso machine and was so easy to learn on! I did watch some videos and adjusted and readjusted the grind amount, tamping pressure, grind size and type of coffee bean before we got it right. We have stuck to a specific coffee bean and rarely do we have to make adjustments to the machine. My husband drinks straight espresso double-shot every morning and one in the afternoon after work if feeling the need. I make a latte each morning and sometimes for dessert. So this machine has had some serious use! I have had 3 family members buy this machine after using ours. (Copy-cats!) I would recommend this to anyone. My good friend and wedding planner swears this machine should be on all registries!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopped working Had this for 9 months and the water pump went out. Breville discontinued replacement pumps so my only option is to send it to them for repairs. At a cost.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn’t last My previous espresso maker was over 30 years old I’ve had the Breville for three months and already it has problems. It was great for about the first six weeks and since that time it doesn’t express well the steaming function is very inconsistent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You need to play to get it right, but when you doe I have had this machine for about two months now. It took me the better part of a month to find just what to do with grind, amount, etc in order to get things right. As I roast my own, this turns out to be a bit different for each coffee. The end result is, however, as good as any espresso I have gotten in any coffee shop, including Italy. Believe it or no, the proper dose for the double espresso filter is at the top range of the single dose range. This was the hardest to find. My Costa Rican coffee demands a slightly finer grind than my Brazil, etc. Not easy to use, especially at first, but stay with it and the rewards are worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded Expectations I purchased this in May. I wanted to wait to write a review to make sure there were no issues, and I can report that after 3+ months this machine is functioning perfectly. This is an upgraded purchase from the prior Breville Espresso machine I had that did not have the built in grinder. I was concerned that this would take up too much counter space, however it does not. The grind on the coffee is perfect. It is also not as noisy as I anticipated. I use the factory setting, however you can adjust as needed. When making coffee, the pressure levels are always within the desired range and always creates the perfect crema. I recommend turning the machine on for about 5-10 minutes before making coffee. When the cleaning light comes on, I also do a decalcification with white vinegar. I am so glad that I purchased this machine. You will not be disappointed.

Does this product also brew a standard cup of coffee? If not what product does.

    Asked by: RDO8450
The Breville® Barista Express Espresso Machine makes only espresso and frothed milk. However there is a dedicated hot water spout that will allow for the making of Americano's. For simple regular coffee there are drip coffee makers.

Does the breville barista machine use pre ground espresso?  Such as lavazza?

    Asked by: Jec2019
Hi Jec2019, The Breville Barista can be used with pre-ground espresso by scooping the espresso into the portafilter and tamping using the tamper included. However, we recommend using the built-in grinder to grind whole bean espresso right before brewing to ensure the best extraction and flavor. You cannot store the pre-ground espresso in the bean hopper, it must be whole beans only.

Does this machine simultaneously froth milk and brew the espresso?

    Asked by: maya0917
Hi maya0917, With the Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine, you cannot froth the milk and brew your espresso at the same time. If you'd like a machine to do both simlutaneously, the Breville Oracle Touch Espresso Machine will do just that. Here is the product page for that machine:
