Sophisticated Serving Utensils

When planning a dinner party, great care is put into choosing the right menu and decorative table settings. Impress your guests by assigning a coordinated set of serving utensils to serve each course in style. With options ranging from shiny stainless steel to gorgeous natural teak, it's easy to find beautiful serving pieces to enhance your favorite platters, salad bowls and other serveware.

Classic Serving Sets

A standard serving set features an oversized fork and spoon in either fancy brushed gold or durable stainless steel. Since these sets coordinate beautifully with Williams Sonoma's flatware sets, your dinner table will look polished and pretty. The serving fork and spoon can be used separately to spear or scoop food items or used together as tongs to serve your main meal.

Serving Ladles

While the serving spoons in a standard set can be used to scoop items from bowls, a proper ladle should be used for serving soups for a soup course or sauces to complement the main meal. Shallow serving ladles with short handles are ideal for serving gravy or other sauces from a decorative gravy boat. Standard soup ladles have a longer handle so they can reach the bottom of large stockpots. They also feature deeper ladle bowls so you can scoop and serve soup for a crowd quickly and efficiently.

Salad Serving Utensils

If a salad course will be served, salad serving utensils are essential. Salad serving sets feature either two serving spoons or one serving spoon and one spoon with short, blunted prongs. The bowl of the spoon is usually quite shallow or almost flat. These spoons are designed for mixing delicate salad ingredients and for transferring your greens to individual salad dishes. To set a beautiful table, try to find a serving spoon set, salad bowl and salad plates that coordinate in material, color or style.

Dessert Servers

Your guests won't forget to save room for dessert, so don't forget to pick up a few beautiful serving pieces to accompany your sweet treats. If you're serving individual pastries, a pretty serving platter and pair of miniature tongs will work well. For cake or pie, a triangle-shaped pastry server lets you lift and serve perfect slices to each guest. You can also find handy dessert serving sets which feature a pastry server as well as a long serrated knife for cutting the cake or pie. Pair with pretty dessert plates and coffee mugs for serving after-dinner coffee and tea.

Serve up a delicious meal for your friends and family with the best serving utensils from Williams Sonoma. With stylish and sophisticated serving spoons, forks and other utensils available for every course, your dinner party will be a night to remember.
