Rated 5 out of 5 by NSB53 from A Must Kitchen Tool This is one of the best tools I have in my kitchen. I have 2 of the large ones. What I love about it is that for pasta and veggies it only takes one scoop to get practically all of the food out of the pot. That is great. Don’t worry about having the large one work in a 3 qt sauce pan. It works.Date published: 2018-02-24Rated 2 out of 5 by PMacW from Why not available in silicone?! I bought this because I could really use it for when I make chips, but the edges are so sharp and would damage my non-stick pots and pans. I t would be so great if WS would continue to offer their full cooks told collection in both the stainless and silicone options, not some in one and not the other.Date published: 2016-01-20Rated 5 out of 5 by CapeCod from Great product! This is a high quality product. Love that it is stainless throughout, i.e., including the handle. Most spiders I've seen have wooden handles, which are difficult to clean, etc. I use this tool often, and I'm very pleased with the purchase.Date published: 2015-04-27Rated 5 out of 5 by NinaEB from Great scoop Such a useful kitchen tool! I like that they provide a small and a large to better suit different sized tasks. Just like the rest of the awesome Williams-Sonoma tools, this one is comfortable to hold and is shiny and beautiful.Date published: 2014-06-09Rated 4 out of 5 by Coco21 from Nice spider strainer Nice quality, like that it is stainless steel. But wish it had a hole in the handle to allow hanging for storage, since I hang most of my utensils due to limited storage and counter space.Date published: 2013-07-07Rated 5 out of 5 by JudyMc from Great Item I have wanted a Spider for a long time. This did not dissapoint. Great productDate published: 2013-03-01
For those that love this strainer, I have about 85% of the ss WS utensil line and love them all. is this strainer really worth the price tag? It seems quite steep for this item. Hi LDMT, A spider is ideal for lifting and draining foods from hot oil, soups, stocks and boiling water. It is the perfect tool for skimming stocks, blanching vegetables and deep frying foods. This kitchen utensil is most often used to retrieve foods that are being cooked in pots or pans of hot water. The spider can be dipped into steaming hot water or oil and placed under many different types of food to pull pieces out for inspection or for removing for cooling prior to eating. If you tend to make a lot of stock/soups, blanch vegetables or deep fry foods, you'll find that the spider strainer is a very useful tool. It is priced in line with our other Williams Sonoma Signature utensils.Date published: 2019-02-17
