I am so happy with it as it sliced all of my ingredients for ratatouille very easily! In fact - the salad that I made for Thanksgiving was a snap! It does take a bit of effort for some larger items like thick-skinned eggplant. But the other veggies were a breeze!! I absolutely love the lock feature, and the unit itself is very stylish. Clean the slicer did just require some rinsing and a small knife to clean it out. But, it was minimal effort!! I bought this tool to replace another slicing tool that broke--but it really is an upgrade with the additional dice and wedge plates. I find this tool easy to use and clean: first, it cuts my chopping time in half--not to mention that the veggies turn out so much more beautifully cut than if I were to do it myself; and second, its easy to clean by throwing the trays in the top rack of the dishwasher. (I use the slice feature weekly for kale, which can get stuck in the slice plates, but a small paring knife helps to get out the stuck bits.) I did have issues with the insertion and removal of the plates at first, but with time, it becomes much easier. This is a great tool that I use multiple times a week. Sometimes, I wish the bowl was bigger to hold more veggies, but the unit is already sizable. One of my favorite features is the lock handle which makes the handle collapse for more compact storage. Theirs was the older model, without the handle. I've used this model to dice veggies and onions. It's Dice Blade is too big for veggies for meatballs, so it required another step: Using a Mandolin to slice the veggies very thin. I then put the slices into the chopper. I would like another attachment that has smaller dice openings. The "up" position should be lockable for easier removal of the blades. The screws need to be "normal" either straight or Phillips Bladed screwdriver to be used. I noted in the video that the demonstrator was behind the unit, whereas in my food prep process, the handle faces me, as does the container's opening, but then I've not used it for anything but peppers and onions. Getting the "left overs" out of the pusher is difficult. Maybe the smallish design means that a new attachment is coming? I hope so. I usually spend about an 1-2 hours on Sunday chopping vegetables according to a weekly meal plan and needed a way to reduce that time. This tool does that, but it's probably overkill if you intend to use it for one meal at a time. It handles about 3/4 of the food prep tasks -- I still need a cutting board to cut things into smaller sizes, peel things, get the stone out of stone fruits, core an apple, or scrape the seeds out of cucumbers. Tomatoes still need a serrated knife, so the chopper still kind of works in conjunction (rather than instead of) a chef's knife. But most things did fairly well and it reduced my chopping/slicing time in half. On the other hand, it could be designed better. The handle springs rest right where you pull the attachments in and out. It would be better if you could lock the handle in the upright position to get the attachments changed. Chopping works best if you put the softer side down and skins on top. You may have to use a pumping action to get through tougher veggies like celery and I had to use a spoon to pop out the attachments as I changed between dicing and slicing. Keep up with the comb accessory because it is vital to getting veggie scraps out of the attachments. Here is what I chopped with it: Pluots & plums: Handled the skins ok. Had to half fruit, remove the stone, then put the halves back together to cut into wedges. Not hard if you use a pumping motion. Celery: Cut into 4" pieces and pump handle to cut. Can't load more than 2-3 stalks at a time. Green onion: sliced nicely without turning mushy. Cut into 4" pieces and load a few pieces at a time. Red pepper: Sliced without turning mushy. Jalapeno pepper: sliced nicely, turn soft side down with skin up. Overall, I think it was worth the price given that I got 25% off. I like that the pieces are uniform and that gives my dishes more of a professional touch. I think the main problem is that the manual is so slim on instructions. People probably would have been more tolerant with it if some of these things were explained better (e.g., using a spoon to pop an attachment, cutting veggies into smaller pieces first, use a pumping action to cut, etc.)Date published: 2017-09-03Rated 2 out of 5 by dina from Confusing I bought this chopper today and decided to use it to make veggies for dinner.
