Can instapot cookpot recipes be adapted for 3 qt pot? Are there tips for converting conventional recipes to instant pot?Hi Cheryl, Although many Instant Pot recipes can be made in a 3-quart pot – think side dishes, rice, hard- or soft-cooked eggs – others will not fit in the 3-quart pot. It mostly depends on the volume of the food, and you never want to exceed the maximum fill line of your pot. One general rule of thumb: If the recipe serves 4 or fewer, it will probably fit, and it if serves more it might not. But each recipe is different, and you might have to play around with them to see what works and what doesn’t. The cook times should be about the same in both pots. As far as tips for converting conventional recipes to Instant Pot – that’s such a broad question that we don’t know how to answer it fully, because the beauty of the Instant Pot is that it has so many different functions – slow cook, pressure cook, saute, etc., and how you convert the recipe would depend upon what you’re making. A couple of brief ideas: Use less liquid. Because an Instant Pot is a closed environment, you’re not going to have any liquid evaporating, which is why you can cook brown rice at a 1:1 ratio instead of the usual 2:1 – you don’t have to account for the water evaporating. If you’re using dairy of any sort (cheese, milk), you will probably need to add it after the pressure cooking is complete because the high pressure and heat tends to curdle dairy.Date published: 2019-06-24
Does this Ultimate Instapot cookbook have recipes for the 8 qt instapot? I’ve found most cookbooks are strictly for the 6 qt model and I don’t know if they have the same cook times, etc., for preparing meals.
