Sweet Potato Pie

A Southern specialty dating back to the early 1900s, sweet potato pie topped with toasted marshmallows is a holiday tradition. The experts at Sweet Things Bakery, a San Francisco Bay Area favorite for over 40 years, prepare each pie to order for fresh, homemade flavor. They begin by filling a flaky, golden crust with pureed sweet potatoes blended with real butter, molasses, vanilla and spices – then top it with an array of mini marshmallows that turn golden brown when baked. Serve the pie warmed with the toasted marshmallows, or on its own with a dollop of freshly whipped cream for an irresistible dessert.

Receiving Instructions

• Pie ships frozen with dry ice, which may have evaporated during shipment. This is normal. Please take care not to touch any remaining dry ice with bare hands. Upon receipt, remove pie from bakery box and store in the freezer for up to 3 months, or defrost in the refrigerator overnight and keep for up to 3 days.

Serving Instructions

• If frozen, let pie thaw on counter until a knife put through the custard determines that it has thawed. This may take a while. When pie is thawed, refrigerate it and remove it 2 hours before serving.
• To toast marshmallows, heat oven to 375°F. Bake for 10–12 minutes until marshmallows are golden and pie is warm. Check oven often as temperatures can vary.
• Serve the pie warmed with toasted marshmallows, or on its own with a dollop of freshly whipped cream.
