Rated 5 out of 5 by Tpavey from Good tasting coffee. Easy to use. I got this because doing a manual pour over in my chemex was difficult with a toddler. Also, pots were getting cold due to the glass. Company that tries it always complement. I've turned a few cream and sugar people into black coffee drinkers. Pros: -Brews at the right temp and pre wets the grounds. -Fast to start. Turn the knob and push the button. -Timer shows how long since brew complete. Carafe keeps it plenty warm to be enjoyable for an hour or so. I personally don't enjoy scalding coffee. -Fairly good at avoiding overflow and grounds in the coffee. -Reminds you to resale. -No overly intense obnoxious LED lights. Cons: -Wish there was a twelve cup of this style instead of the removable water pitcher. -Lack of adequate vent holes means the compartments stay wet. If I'm not using it daily I put something in to prevent the tops from closing to avoid wet/mildew. This is nice in that it doesn't steam your cabinets though. -Single button and dial makes it difficult to remember how to do anything except brew. Keep the manual nearby as reference.Date published: 2018-02-18Rated 5 out of 5 by mdinme from Delicious Coffee I purchased this coffee maker one month ago and have been enjoying a great pot of coffee every morning. A few reviews that I have read here and elsewhere have made mention of a clicking sound. I had that happen and removed the carafe from the unit to discover that the noise was coming from the flap inside the pour spout. Rinsed it out, put the tube back on and it was fine the next morning. The other issue mentioned was about coffee spillage when removing the carafe before the brew cycle is finished. I have not had that happen. I always wash the basket with soap and water by hand, (using a bottle brush) when finished and open the spring to allow water to rinse through the bottom. The countdown timer is a nice feature BUT the coffee remains warm beyonder that 60 minutes. I usually drink two cups and well within the hour but I have had a sleep in or two and still had a warm carafe waiting.Date published: 2017-08-28Rated 5 out of 5 by SFBayGirl from It's just the best I purchased the OXO Barista Brain 9 three months ago and I just love it. Everything about this coffee maker is high quality. Within it's sleek and modern design, it silently brews great coffee. What I love: * Great coffee at the perfect temperature * Caraffe keeps coffee hot for hours * Clever and cool design especially the water pumping up through the reservoir. * Preset brew timer makes it easy to have my coffee ready and waiting in the morning * Removable coffee basket for easy cleaning * Stylish and functional thermal coffee carafe looks great on my breakfast table What I wish was better: * Periodic clicking sound during brewing. Stopped by removing/replacing the carafe lid * Coffee maker height won't allow it to fit under my kitchen counter. Not to much of a problem as it looks lovely on my center island Reviews by others have indicated that produces a lot of steam during brewing. I have NOT found this to be an issue. In fact I've notice quite the opposite. I debated about purchasing the OXO due to the high price but I'm so happy that I made the purchase. I look forward to making coffee every morning.Date published: 2017-07-02Rated 1 out of 5 by Blason from I wouldn't recommend it... I've had this coffee maker for a few months. I haven't been happy with it since I got it. The coffee is not hot enough. I don't find it to be quiet. The taste is typical. I was talking to a sales associate in one of the stores. She told me that none of the employees like this coffee maker and they do not use it in the store. I would NOT recommend it. I stopped using it for a while and started using my Keurig again.Date published: 2017-03-10Rated 5 out of 5 by BaristaJohn from Fast, Quiet, and Delicious This sleek machine makes delicious coffee very quickly and quietly. At first, I was apprehensive about the lack of a burner; however, the insulated carafe keeps coffee hot for a long time without burning the bottom or causing a mess. In addition, unlike traditional coffee pots, we often set the carafe on the table without worrying about burns. This unit looks great on the counter too. It fits well on my counter by turning it sideways when not in use. And when in use, the kids love watching the water bubble up through the transparent water tank. I have used this for 1.5 months and it appears to be very high quality. I am hoping it lasts longer than some cheaper machines I have purchased in the past. The one potential downside is the smaller size, but this is perfect for my wife and I preparing 4 to 5 large coffee mugs each morning. I think this is also available in a larger size if you need a huge pot every day.Date published: 2017-01-10Rated 3 out of 5 by SFCoffee from Great Coffee but not hot enough There is no doubt that this coffee maker makes excellent tasting coffee. I love my coffee really hot, and unfortunately the carafe doesn't keep it as hot as I would like. It's just a personal preference, as I like to sip coffee throughout the day and hate microwaving it every 30 minutes. I'll probably look for a coffee maker with a hot plate. Otherwise it's great!Date published: 2016-06-11Rated 5 out of 5 by Sidhescreams from Good coffee, less delicate than the Bonavita I purchased the OXO Barista Brain 9-cup to replace the Bonavita 8-cup. The Bonavita made a better cup of coffee, but the OX significantly less fussy and overall I am much happier with this brewer. Pros: The clear feeding tube in the center of the reservoir allows you to see mineral build-up before the 90 cycle reminder, so you can run a manual descaling cycle. The carafe keeps a pot of coffee hot and enjoyable for up to 8 hours, just warm it up first with hot tap water. Programmable. Cons: The tube inside the carafe that "mixes" the coffee from the bottom of the carafe with the coffee at the top seems gimmicky and unnecessary. The spring-loaded dispenser at the bottom of the brewing basket can become stuck causing overflow of the basket. The carafe can dribble, due to the seam along the bottom. It is too tall to operate at the back of the counter, under the cabinets, and must be pulled forward to fill, or clean.Date published: 2016-05-17Rated 5 out of 5 by ModelAFord1930 from Love this coffee maker & grinder Bought the OXO Barista about 4 mo. ago. WE LOVE IT. Brew 4 to 12 cups of coffee or set your preference and leave enough hot water for tea in the glass pot, ingenious. I like tea he likes coffee. Heat 4 to 12 cups hot water for brewing ice tea very quickly instead of the stove top. Bought the OXO Conical coffee grinder with the Barista, LOVE IT! I like that you are able to set the coffee grindings and cups depending on type and taste (Espresso, Drip, French Press). Simple to clean the coffee maker, a tray holding the coffee filter and grounds lifts out to carry to the garbage. This coffee maker is much better than the Grind & Brew that we replaced. Both coffee maker and grinder were more expensive than any other that we have purchased. We are very happy with our purchases. Thanks OXO!Date published: 2016-04-03
