Rated 1 out of 5 by Mary from Waste of time money and effort I bought this apple peeler corer for the holidays. I've been making homemade pies for 35 years. My hands are getting arthritic, especially this time of year, they do indeed get a work out. I bought this kitchen gadget in hopes of alleviating the arthritis aches and speed things up. This kitchen gadget at one time, 40-50 years ago might have been a Godsend, but this is a cheap, poorly made in China version. It took a PhD, MS and BS degree to figure out how to put the peeler/corer together. Common sense did not work, directions made no logical sense. Once we got the corer/peeler put together, we attached a Granny Smith apple to the crank. Granny Smith is ideal apple work horse of apple pies since the pioneer days. The corer/peeler turned the apple into mush, I mean applesauce. Holiday prep/meal time was at a crucial/critical state. I had to resort to the good old fashioned potato peeler and paring knife to peel core slice my apples for apple pie. The pie was great, but no thanks to this waste of a kitchen toolDate published: 2020-01-01Rated 1 out of 5 by Faux Cook from Broke after 3 apples I picked this up from the store today as I would intent to bake my very first apple pie. I read the instructions and watched the video provided on the W&S website to make sure I was using this correctly. The first apple was pretty easy to peel, slice and core. There was a bit of resistance with the second apple. The third apple was then completely wedged into the machine. Upon releasing the apple, I saw that one of the 3 metal prongs that holds the apple in place was completely bent and wouldn't fit through the core hole anymore. So yeah, the corer's metal was bested by a granny smith. My husband is going to try and fix it, but I feel like it will just amke it flimsier than before. It's just super inconvenient to have to go back to the store and get a refund. Also, the suction that is supposed to hold the corer to the table only works for about 5 seconds before the rubber snaps back to its loosened position.Date published: 2019-10-13Rated 5 out of 5 by Rosie0540 from Love the peeeler This is the second one that i have purchased, Have used the first one so much that the blades have lost their sharpness, would like to purchase new blades if available, as machine is perfect in every way. HINT, in reading reviews,i have found complaints about use...i have found that if you speed up you cranking of the handle, it peels much better and you have very little peel to remove when completed. I have purchased two onters for each of my daughters and they also complained about use, after being shown my way , they were very happy with use Really speeds up making pies..Date published: 2019-02-19Rated 2 out of 5 by BakerBaker from Made in China, not Taiwan as listed I’m not sure why this is listed as made in Taiwan, and Williams Sonoma hasn’t responded to my email notifying them of the website information error. It was too late for me, I had already used it before I noticed the sticker on the bottom of the box. I was in such disbelief that for a moment I thought maybe the box was just made in China. If you are still interested: It works ok, but you need to limit use to smaller, firmer apples to achieve the desired result. I hope that it holds up.Date published: 2018-10-28Rated 2 out of 5 by Halloween girl from Not pleased with results. I went out to the apple orchards during the week and bought a lot of apples, I was very excited to use this product this weekend. First, this apple peeler would not seal to my table top nor the counter, so I had to hold on to the bottom to use it. Second, the apples would split halfway, and the peeler did not take off all the peel from the apple. I think I only had about three that looked like the apples in the video. It seems that before I make a pie I have to go back and peel the excess by hand. Of all the items I have purchased from Williams-Sonoma, this one was not my favorite.Date published: 2018-10-21Rated 4 out of 5 by Leslie319 from Makes easy work! No more apple peeling by hand! So much easier! To the reviewer who said she's been trying for 2 months to assemble this: a 2-second search of Youtube yields about 10 videos on assembling this peeler. Why would you take the time to leave that review rather than just looking online for a video to help you?Date published: 2018-04-22Rated 1 out of 5 by Hopeful101 from Looks great but hard to assemble! My daughter bought his for my birthday but we have had the hardest time figuring out how to assemble this product. I wish I could use this but after 2 months we are still struggling to figure out the instruction s in the booklet. In this day of videos why not share one on how to assemble, in addition to how to use.Date published: 2017-11-25Rated 5 out of 5 by Rebe from My favorite kitchen utensil!!! This little ditty takes all of the aggravation out of baking apple cakes, pies cobblers, ANYTHING with apples!!!!! I am a BIG apple cake/pie baker and I make at least 1 a week, because there is no hassle with peeling. I HIGHLY recommend this peeler/corer for anyone who likes to bake with apples but hates the peeling process. This is a must for us bakers!!! It will change your life!!! (:Date published: 2017-01-02
