Rated 5 out of 5 by KitchenMonster from Top Rated by TV Show/Cookbook This is a super pot! Bought it without doing much research and feel lucky to have stumbled onto it. It was selected as a the best hot water canner by the Test Kitchen. The vented glass lid is excellent, the bottom is level and conducts heat quickly and evenly. One caution not mentioned elsewhere but included with the pot itself, as with any large pot you will want to use a reinforced "big burner" element to allow airflow and protect your electric cooktop. I found a used element online for about $25. As far a the goopy label, I just used paint stripper. Wish there were more instructions about canning but was able to find the info elsewhere.Date published: 2016-07-11Rated 5 out of 5 by Punkyjr from Goo Removal I filled my canner with boiling hot water, let it sit for a bit, then peeled the sticker off, which left a little bit of residue. This took very little effort. Then I used Goo Gone Spray Gel and the goo is gone!! Only used a little bit of elbow grease!!Date published: 2015-11-01Rated 5 out of 5 by Chuchala from Great canning pot Used this pot last week for the first time. It was my first water canning experience on my own. I had taken two classes the last month. The directions were very simple. I really love the fact that this pot has a temperature gage on the lid. It was the real reason I purchased this product from Williams Sonoma. I didn't want room for error since temp and timing are so crucial to achieve a great finished product. This pot gets 5 starts from me and next week I'm canning applesauce!Date published: 2015-09-19Rated 5 out of 5 by GladdieAnn from Solving the Goo Problem It makes no sense to have half of the canner covered in sticky goo, after the ridiculous process of using a hair dryer to get the sticker off. The local hardware store didn't have "Goo Gone" that was suggested by another reviewer, but a nice person there suggested blue ScotchBrite non-scratch scrubbers. After soaking the canner in hot soapy water, I was able to scrub gently and finally, the goo was gone. It is an icky mess to have to deal with. Too bad. Don't forget the sticker on the bottom of the pot, too!Date published: 2015-09-01Rated 5 out of 5 by foxiethegreat from Nice and Sturdy I have read reviews that the label is hard to get off. It comes with directions for removing it, use a hair dryer. That being said this is a great canner. I used it last Sunday to make spaghetti sauce from this years tomatoes. The temperature gauge is great and it is nice to have a lid you can see through. This probably weighs half of what my previous canner did.Date published: 2015-08-23Rated 5 out of 5 by canner from great product works great comes with liner needed nicely priced get itDate published: 2015-08-03Rated 4 out of 5 by JanFreya from Helpful Features The gauge on the lid, adjusted to elevation, is great, especially for water bath canning those potentially dangerous tomatoes. You always know when you are in the safe zone. A few people commented about sputtering from the lid. Lower your temperature and you will not have a problem and will surprisingly still stay in your safe zone. Regarding the large, sticky label, I would encourage the manufacturer to get rid of it. Totally unnecessary, but easy to remove with a hair dryer followed by a liberal application of 'goo gone'. Happy canning!Date published: 2015-07-30Rated 2 out of 5 by mmacmobile from Too Much Glue I returned this product because the label was applied with a very strong adhesive that made removal very difficult. Use of a hair dryer and even a heat gun provided little to no help. I found an identical complaint on another store's web site so this is a known problem. Otherwise it was a very nice looking product.Date published: 2015-07-15
