Rated 5 out of 5 by lee lee from They fixed it I bought the Night Before Christmas dinner collection with the tartan chargers, and I thought this table runner would be exactly what I needed. BUT I was really worried when reading the other reviews, so I ordered all three of the coordinating table runners WS offers. This is the one I'm keeping. Whatever problems they had last year with the ribbon edge not laying flat, it's not an issue any more. I took it right out of the package, and I don't feel as if I even have to iron it. I repeat, I had NO ISSUES with the ribbon edges! Whew! So relieved! The colors are beautiful, and it is the perfect accent for my Christmas table. At first I thought the fabric was a bit thin because it almost seems as if it is a lightweight wool that should be more substantial. But after looking at it carefully, I realized it's actually a very substantial linen/cotton blend that gives the warm appearance of wool, has a nice soft feel, but is much more practical to launder. Way to go, WS, for fixing a problem reviewers pointed out and offering the kind of quality product your customers expect.Date published: 2017-11-11Rated 4 out of 5 by DebbsSeattle from Quintessential Tartan I agree with the 'wavy' comments on the ribbon edging. I would personally like to see an item improvement of no ribbon edge and a more formal 1 inch miter hem. I love the tartan - all things Scot are welcome in our home. With that said the fabric is really forgiving when soiled. They will pick up grease stains, but for the homekeeper that hates high maintenance items, this is a winner. I use these for everyday use as well as dining room use. They are holding up well. So if you are looking for a very formal application, you will undoubtedly find the ribbon edge unsatisfactory and decide to stick to a full on linen set, however for a more casual setting they are lovely. Side note: They do not take a really crisp starching well. This will also lend to the more casual uses as well.Date published: 2017-11-10Rated 2 out of 5 by sthweatt from Love the idea but isn't perfect This is my second year using this runner. I love the festive plaid tartan and the color is beautiful on my table with Christmas greenery--I searched and searched for one that would compliment my home, and was so pleased when I found this at Williams Sonoma. However, I cannot get it to lay flat, because the ribbon edges are very wavy. I have ironed it myself and sent to to the dry cleaners to be professionally steamed--neither did the trick. It's unfortunate that such a pretty runner isn't well crafted enough to lay straight on a table.Date published: 2014-12-04Rated 2 out of 5 by Skillians from Beautiful...but wavy! I still love the look of this runner, and it looks beautiful in our colonial dining room. But the grosgrain trim is sewn on so tightly that the runner won't lie flat, even by stretching it and ironing extremely carefully. I realize that I'll have to take it to a dry cleaners to be ironed perfectly, but who wants to do that every time you use it? The next time I need a different runner, I'll go to a local seamstress and have her put one together....and I'm sure it will cost quite a bit less, too!Date published: 2012-12-26
