- Use & Care
- Before first use, remove all packaging and labels.
- Wash the pan in hot, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Cast-iron handles, stainless-steel knobs and phenolic knobs will become hot during stovetop and oven use. Always use a dry, thick cloth or oven mitts when lifting.
- Always place a hot pan on a wooden board, trivet or Le Creuset silicone mat, never on an unprotected surface.
- Heat-resistant to 500°F.
- Always cool a hot pan for a few minutes before washing.
- Do not plunge a hot pan into cold water. While Le Creuset's enamel is designed to be the most durable on the market, thermal shock may still occur, resulting in cracking or loss of enamel.
- If there are food residues, fill the pan with warm water and let soak for 15–20 minutes before washing. A brush can be useful for removing small food deposits, or for cleaning between the ribs on grills. Do not use scourers or abrasive cleaners on the cooking surface. Nylon or soft abrasive pads or brushes can be used to remove stubborn residues. To avoid damaging the enamel, do not use metallic pads or harsh abrasive cleaning agents. Light stains or metal marks caused by metal tools can be removed with Le Creuset cookware cleaner.
- Never store pans while they are still damp. Store pans in a dry cupboard or airy space away from steam.
- Maintain the tightness of all handles and knobs by checking and retightening them regularly.
- Dishwasher use: All pans with integral cast iron, phenolic handles or stainless-steel knobs can be washed in the dishwasher. However, constant dishwashing may lead to some dulling of the enamel finish. This is not harmful and will not impair performance. When using the dishwasher, always allow the cycle to finish before opening the door. This will ensure the pans are dried thoroughly.

The first Le Creuset foundry opened in 1925 in Fresnoy-le-Grand, France, and specialized in cast-iron cookware. The cast-iron pieces are still made at the original factory, using the traditional techniques of hand forging and casting in individual sand molds. The brightly pigmented porcelain-enamel glaze that first set Le Creuset cookware apart from other cast-iron cookware now comes in a wide range of traditional and contemporary colors. In 2013, Le Creuset began producing innovative stainless-steel cookware in Portugal with lids that incorporate the same signature three-ring design as the company’s classic cast-iron pieces. This stainless-steel collection was awarded the prestigious 2014 Red Dot Award for product design.

You can scorch them if your stove top or oven racks aren’t clean. Some will take on a tone change over decades of use. Don’t use metal utensils, use the rubber to keep,lids from chiping the pots when not use. I’ve had stuff handed down from my great aunt who used them in her diner in the 40’s-50’s and I still use them nearly daily for the last 30 yrs. this one is perfect for omelettes and sautéing.Date published: 2019-01-27Rated 5 out of 5 by JCNY from Excellent results but not for all types of frying I've only had this fry pan for a week and already had some nice results. It takes getting used to after years of Teflon but I'm confident if you use it properly with the foods suitable for this pan, the results will be excellent. I cooked bacon, eggs, potstickers and crepes with this pan with great results. The trick with all is to get it heated up before you add the food and to avoid turning the food too soon. I did that with the pot stickers and it the skin stuck to the pan. When I waited for a nice crisp coating it was fine. My husband used the pan like the old non-stick and his eggs stuck to it. Our crepes were perfect and my 9 year old daughter made a batch of 20 in this pan! She even remarked that she loved the pan! I didn't have good results with fried fish or my pork chops. Because the instructions said you should keep to a low to medium heat, my pork chops did not sear and my fried fish took forever too cook. I transferred the pork chops to my Woll non-stick pan and the sear was lovely and crisp. I'm moving away from non-stick for health reason. After the nice results with this shallow fry pan, I'm going to order the black enamel 12 inch skillet from Le Creuset for high heat frying. Its pricey but its of excellent quality. Its an excellent item to remind us to be mindful of our cooking and in taking care of our things. We live in a buy and toss society, and should move back to qualify products which last a lifetime while encouraging us to get back to basics with our cooking and diet. The pan is beautiful and cleans up very nicely. I'm pretty sure it will look like new even after years of use. Overall, this is a really nice pan and a great alternative for someone moving away from non-stick Teflon for health reasons. I only wish it was an inch bigger. Although scrambled eggs are still a bit tricky (I haven't yet figured out the proper temperature:oil ratio), I could flip a fried egg over in the air if I were so inclined. This pan is excellent for reheating a slice of pizza, grilling sausages, preparing a small stir fry, wilting greens, sauteeing shallots, and cooking croquettes, which crisp up beautifully. The Ocean color is soothing, and cleanup is easy. One night I grilled hamburgers, and the inside of the pan looked a fright. A gentle soak followed by a buff with a plastic scrubbie, and the interior sparkled like new. If Williams-Sonoma offered a larger size (12+ inches), I would buy it in a heartbeat.
