- More about Le Creuset
The first Le Creuset foundry opened in 1925 in Fresnoy-le-Grand, France, and specialized in cast-iron cookware. The cast-iron pieces are still made at the original factory, using the traditional techniques of hand forging and casting in individual sand molds. The brightly pigmented porcelain-enamel glaze that first set Le Creuset cookware apart from other cast-iron cookware now comes in a wide range of traditional and contemporary colors. In 2013, Le Creuset began producing innovative stainless-steel cookware in Portugal with lids that incorporate the same signature three-ring design as the company’s classic cast-iron pieces. This stainless-steel collection was awarded the prestigious 2014 Red Dot Award for product design.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hekate from Very French ! I just received my flame (orange) french press, having a lazy saturday and making coffee for the first time in my new french press. Works great, also purchased the blue stripe french table runner and napkins. Was creative and wrapped one of the napkins around the press like a warmer cozy and it looks great against the flame color. Fun!Date published: 2019-01-12Rated 2 out of 5 by mrs512 from Beautiful but Fragile NOT Functional We only drink french press coffee, and I wanted to love this one. We purchased the coordinating coffee cups and love those. Because of the ceramic design and frequent washing, the top broke several times. I super glued back together but this did not work or help. The top is easily susceptible to breaking, so I would not recommend this french press, although it does look beautiful displayed on the counter (why I gave it two stars!).Date published: 2019-01-01Rated 5 out of 5 by Ahauck from Best coffee My husband and I have owned ours for probably two years now. Yes, if you over fill you can get grounds in your coffee. But if used properly and you take care of it, the perfect cup of coffee awaits.Date published: 2018-01-23Rated 5 out of 5 by Keggie from I LOVE THIS FRENCH PRESS I just read these other reviews and don't understand what they are talking about. I got my Le Creuset French press about a year ago. I love It! I have never had a single problem with coffee grounds getting in my coffee or with the quality of the press. I have a lot of the cookware and you have to be careful not to hit it or drop it as you would with any item that is enamel. I get great joy out of making my coffee in my Le Creuset because it is beautiful to look at and I think it keeps my coffee hotter than other types I have seen. LOVE IT!Date published: 2017-10-27Rated 1 out of 5 by Cordon70 from Buyer Beware I purchased this item this year as a Valentine's Day gift, as it is a wonderful red color, befitting the occasion. Now however, three months later, the spout has started splitting and chipping away and scratches are evident on the surface. Also the mesh plunger does not properly trap all of the coffee grounds when you push it down. So, chunky peanut butter might be okay, but chunky coffee is unbearable.Date published: 2017-05-14Rated 1 out of 5 by Augustus from Major design flaws I was very excited to get this French Press to match the rest of our Le Creuset items. This is probably the WORST functioning press you could ask for! Not only does the press constantly leave tons of grounds in your cup, it can also spout out a hot stream of coffee all over the kitchen if you push down too quickly. I have splashed scalding coffee all over myself as well as spraying the kitchen with hot coffee and grounds multiple times. I was incredibly disappointed with this press and I would never recommend it to anyone. I would still say that Le Creuset is the best of the best for cookware, I just feel they have missed the mark with this item.Date published: 2017-03-10Rated 1 out of 5 by ChrisMC from Not worth the money The seal on this French press is not great and I often get grounds that sneak into my coffee. It is also smaller than I would like. It does, however, do a good job at keeping the coffee hot after it has been made. Overall, unfortunately, I do not recommend it unless you are buying only for aesthetic.Date published: 2016-07-20Rated 1 out of 5 by Lakelife from Regret Purchase Just as the other reviewer said, the spout on ours chipped despite our being careful with it. The more dissatisfying quality is that the coffee grounds seep into the coffee as we pour it into our mugs. We have ground our coffee on the French press setting, and have tried several other settings, but the press mesh is not engineered properly to keep the grounds inside the press. Our daughter has a less expensive press she bought at Starbucks and the grounds do not seep into the coffee. We are very disappointed.Date published: 2016-06-26
