Use & Care

Care

  • The outer housing and LCD screen can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth.
  • The coffee basket and gold tone filter can be rinsed under running water. For a deeper clean, wash the coffee basket and gold tone filter in warm, soapy water with a soft bristled brush.
  • Rinse the carafe and lid under warm running water. For a deeper clean, we recommend regularly washing the carafe in warm, soapy water using a soft bristled brush. Do not use abrasive cleansers, pads or cloths, which can scratch the surface. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • We recommend regular descaling. The LCD screen will flash “DESCALE” when it's time to run the descale cycle.

At Williams Sonoma, we take great pride in the quality and craftsmanship of our products. Attention to design, materials, safety and construction are our priority. Upon receipt, please inspect your purchase and notify us of any damage; we will arrange for a prompt replacement.

If within 30 days, you are dissatisfied for any reason, you may return your purchase for a refund of the merchandise value. An original receipt or gift receipt is required for all returns and exchanges. Returns with a gift receipt will be refunded in the form of a Merchandise Credit for the amount indicated on the gift receipt. Returns with original receipt will be refunded in the original form of payment, cash and check refunds over $100 will be issued as a company check (may take 14 business days from time of request).

  • Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good I have been using this for about two weeks, it met all of the criteria on my wish list and then some, and I have been looking for this type of brewer for a long time. Thermal carafe seems to keep the coffee hot enough for me, carafe pours well and is smartly designed, auto start is easy to set, brew is about the same as my prior machines, although there are a lot of options I have not yet tried, and can make 12 cups when needed with a basket filter instead of a cone, you can change them out. Have not tried pour over or cold brew yet. A little dripping on the tray at times when taking the carafe out, but not excessive. I see a little water remaining in the outlet of the reservoir, but not a lot. Watching for dreaded error message, and hope that Breville stands by this machine. Definitely tall, so if you have limited height in the location you plan to put it, you might want to be aware of that, and a bit expensive. If using the basket for a full pot it takes commercial size "bunn" style filters, which you can order in various types online (bleached, unbleached, etc.).

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from I want to love it, but I cant... When it works, this is an ideal coffee maker. I've been doing pour over in the morning for quite some time but was looking for something quicker without a significant drop in quality. With the V60 adapter, this is precisely what I was looking for, on paper. I've been using it for over a month now and have come across some issues. First, it's a very messy machine. Water and coffee are dripping and splattering from everywhere. An annoyance I can live with, but that's not the only problem. Second, as another reviewer stated, there is a good deal of water that just sits in the storage area after you brew. When I come home from out of town, I need to unplug the machine and dump it since the water has just been sitting there. Third, and my larget annoyance, when I do a fast brew, usually just heating some water, it does not go to the carafe. It's sitting in the filter area where I then must take it off and pour it into the carafe. When I did this with coffee, it completely ruined the batch; I won't even attempt to use this without the V60 anymore. I could go on as error messages pop up here and there, and the bloom isn't quite right for pour over, but I'll leave it at that. Breville took a big swing and a miss on this one, not a fan that they won't publish bad reviews on their site either.

    Rated 2 out of 5 by from On my 3rd machine My first two Precision brewers constantly showed the “descale” message even after I performed the descale. Breville sent me a third unit which I received last week, and assured me this unit has the latest firmware which corrects the descale issues. I’ll see if this one works better, but I have a feeling my trustworthy Technivorm is going to be back on our counter top shortly.

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible! Bought this maker a few months ago. It does not keep the coffee hot. After a few minutes after the browsing process, the coffee in thermal gets lukewarm. The thermal tends to leak at the top cap. Also, as stated in other reviews, the electric programing has a horrific issue. It was blinking "descale" so I descaled it. During the descaling process it stopped and said "Er4" on the LCD screen. I unplugged the device and replugged it in, and the LCD screen seemed fine until the "Er4" came back up. Awful coffee maker....

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Problematic coffeemaker As described by others the electronics seem to have a problem. We use the coffeemaker to make a pot a day. After about a month the descale notification started to blink after every 4-5 pots and the brewer would not go through the descaled process. Then the select button started to have problems. In addition - most coffee makers stop after the water chamber is empty. Our unit every few res will just keep going and the only way to turn it off is to unplug it and reset it to the factory defaults. This all started about two weeks ago and things seem continue to get worse. Its past the return time to WS or we would bring it back. Calling Breville daily but always on hold with customer support (have been on hold for up to 45 minutes) but can never get through. Maybe they are just getting lots of calls. As for its ability to make coffee - I'm not convinced its worth the premium price. (I roast my own coffee so I do have high standards).

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from We love it We got this brewer about 3 months ago to replace a Technivorn Moccamaster. It makes a great cup of coffee and we have not experienced any problems. While it does have a small amount of water remaining in the reservoir after brewing, but so did our Technivorn. Since several people have mentioned it I am assuming this is normal. While it does not bother me, I would be interested in knowing why it remains.

    Rated 3 out of 5 by from Best coffee maker bar none - but problematic QC The Breville Precision Brewer is a welcome alternative to the finicky and flimsy Technovorm. It makes great coffee - period. The issue is in the firmware. I received my second replacement 2 days ago and it works fine. Unlike the first replacement the select button is more reliable and isn't on the verge of falling off. My first machine was returned after numerous Er7 displays which were associated with the machine getting noiser and noiser and which no one at Breville could identify. So it was returned. The replacement came with a page to supplement the printed manual that address flushing of the unit before use. They do not work. The very helpful customer rep Sandra directed me to the on line manual which has additional troubleshooting detail where I found Er7 - something to do with a water blockage which is not trivial given a brand new machine. As noted the select button on the 2nd machine was very shroggily and not always responsive so we now - thanks to Breville - have our third machine in three months. Better build than the second but still has flushing directions that don't work. In talking with the customer reps after Sandra I was surprised at the lack of interest in my user feedback and a condescending attitude that was surprising. I like Breville stuff - their 920 espresso machine and mixer are great. There are problems with this unit that need to be rectified quickly. BTW - I got the pour over attachment - a lot of work for nothing - little difference from the coffee made the regular way.
