Rated 5 out of 5 by A Southern Girl from Wowser! After researching electric skillets, I decided to purchase this jewel even though it was more expensive than others with positive reviews. The size was intimidating when I saw it in-store, but I have quickly adjusted and like it so much that the majority of our meals over the past week have been cooked with my new toy. (Yes, I marked Size as both as pro and a con.) I'm still in the honeymoon period and have nothing but positive comments to make about my first electric skillet (also my first All-Clad anything). One big change I have noticed: I use a lot less oil with this skillet than when using my grandmother's well-seasoned cast iron or my more modern enameled cast iron skillets. Clean up is so easy that there is no comparison. Controlling the temperature is a snap, and the fact that I can cook several items at once is a wonder. Those old cast iron skillets might end up on the wall as part of the decor if this love-fest continues. Another note of consequence: I live in the deep South where temperatures have been hovering around 95 degrees over the past week. As often as I have used the skillet - morning, noon and night, my kitchen has not heated up as it would have if I had been cooking the same food on the stove. Wonder of wonders.Date published: 2019-06-01Rated 5 out of 5 by The Happt Tummy from Simply Stated: The Best Buy this skillet that does it all. I use it for most daily cooking needs. This product is the best available with fast and superbly uniform heat. If you want more or less heat, then just turn the dial as you would on a stove or oven. The control’s numbers do not really matter nor are they even accurate; they are a general guide only. One cooks by experience, with sight, smell, sound, emotion, and creativity as the guide. I own many All-Clad Copper Core cookware products as well, but this skillet is a welcome addition and blessing for them. I only wish that All-Clad would design a proper electric griddle with the same evenly distributed heat as the skillet across the griddle’s platen surface.Date published: 2019-04-16Rated 1 out of 5 by Wozza from Cant read the font tempurture because the text is waaaay to small I purchased this 7qt non-stick skillet and the Rice and Grain cooker 1 There is a constant theme going on with font size on All-Clad appliances: - all the text is very small which is hard to read, and there is plenty amount of space for twice the size font. I printed out different font sizes from MS word onto a piece of paper and it appears the font size. This makes it hard to read in well lit areas due to reflection on the chrome, or low lit areas due to contrast. Was this solution designed by a bunch of 20 or 30 year olds. I recently at age 48 suddenly need reading glasses. My career started off as a Cartographer and surveyor with excellent vision. But now I sudenly need reading glasses Im always asking: "Why cant that be printed a little bigger?" Here's how you conduct user testing on fonts, get a person who is over 50 who needs reading glasses but doesn't use glasses to dive, have them use the device with NO reading glasses. Is the text readable? No. Change the font. Ive discovered that font size 14 is readable at a tabletop without reading glasses. I tested this on some people aged 20 to 78 and they could all read the font if they only needed reading glasses but not glasses for day to day living. Cooking is day to day living. I will not use reading glasses whilst cooking. if I cant read it I don't buy it!!! The same is to be said about business cards. If you cant read the card without reading glasses its too small for BUSINESS. American business cards are bigger then credit cards and don't fit into European wallets. I highlight this fact not to complain, but as proof an entire industry can score a fail mark if: 1. The card doesn't fit, or 2. a business person cant pull out a card and read it when all that had to be done was make it smaller and larger font). All-Clad: Does you business card fit into a European fashion brand wallet credit card section with the same ease as a credit card, or is your all-clad business card larger then the size of a credit card? Can your distributors and resellers read your business card without reading glasses? Pass or Fail? I have our business cards cut to be exactly same size as credit card. And why shouldn't a business card be the same size as a credit card, and why should the font on our cooking appliances not be large enough to read? Now look at stove tops. Are the fonts on stove tops large enough to read? All-Clad, I've purchased over $3,000 of your items in the past, in 120v and 240v, if you want me to continue as a customer make all your items easily readable in the kitchen without reading glasses. I only use reading glasses when people cant be bother to make the font large enough. I spend my money where the font is large enough. Please reach out to me to resolve these problems. On a positive note: I love my All-Clad electric grill from about 4 years ago, the font size is larger then the skillet, and the contrast is black and white. Do NOT use Grey font. Black and white contrast works best. All this can be changed, and the change starts with how you conduct your user testing.Date published: 2019-02-12Rated 5 out of 5 by serenity cook from works great I am very happy with this electric skillet. It is solid, the non-stick coating is smooth and secure, heats quickly and evenly. This is exactly why I wanted an electric skillet. I will say that the even though W-S website is well written with the measurements, I still didnt realize that it would be quite this large. However, after finding the right space in my kitchen, I do find the size works so well with many recipes (and I am a family of two).Date published: 2019-01-27Rated 5 out of 5 by JP in Dallas from This thing is excellent This is the electric skillet to end all other electric skillets. Seriously, one of my most favorite purchases, in my kitchen of gadgets. Pros: the size is unbelievable. You can cook for 4-6 people easily. Clean up could not be easier. And super even heating - every electric skillet I've had before has those typical "hot spots" where you often get burn marks on the food. Definitely not with this one. And this thing has HEFT. It is well made and will last for years. I could not be more pleased with it. It's worth every penny.Date published: 2018-11-15Rated 5 out of 5 by NancyD from Great Electric Nonstick Skillet I purchased this skillet almost a year ago. I've used it many times and it is great. It's truly nonstick, the heat is even and easy to control. The clean up is fast and easy. I use silicone spatulas and have never had a problem. A huge plus is the size. I make risotto, sauces, brown/cook meats, saute vegetables, etc... Buy it! You won't regret it.Date published: 2018-03-26Rated 3 out of 5 by Fnali from Good skillet but not for long use I bought this skillet last month and I really liked it , but something happened that made me contact al-clad . I use rubber spatula when cook in skillet but somehow there are long scratch lines on the surface . I love the size and heat level but when you spend this much money on something you want to use it for little long at least. I E-mail Al-Clad about these scratch type lines but there website was down so there was an automated reply . Then I call them and talk to a representative who told me to send the pictures and scratches are not covered by warranty , umm r u kidding me this is non stick skillet and I used it for maximum 3,4 times and now there are lines on surface whom should I call then . I told the representative that if this is not covered by warranty then I will take it back to William Sonoma then he said maybe they won't take it back but send us pictures and I tried to email the picture but I think there is something wrong with the site and email couldn't go through.Date published: 2018-02-06Rated 5 out of 5 by Kim in Texas from Awesome Skillet I have had this skillet for a little over a month and I love it. I was hesitant to purchase an electric skillet as they've got somewhat of a bad reputation over the years. However there are times that I would like to have additional cooking space or cook large quantities and it's not as desirable to use 2 skillets on my cook top. I have made chicken, risotto cakes, pancakes, vegetables and many other items in it and it has performed perfect each time. I agree with the other reviews - there are no hot spots and it cooks evenly regardless of position in the skillet. This is a great size. I'm an advanced cook and I'm so glad I decided to try this because my only regret is not getting it sooner. It will be perfect for the upcoming holidays. I have used this more than my cook top and there's only 2 of us and I still cook in it.Date published: 2017-09-28
What temperatures does this reach? It mentions searing so I'm assuming in the 500 degrees?Hi Heidi, The product manual does not state what temperature "SEAR" is. It is safe to assume it is more than 450 degrees as there is a specific setting on the dial for 400- 450.Date published: 2019-06-25
