Rated 2 out of 5 by Gina from Salt Mill cracked and is now useless These were delivered in December 2018. They are nice looking and worked well until seven months later the salt mill cracked. I’m very disappointed that this happened. We don’t use these every day because I’ve tried to keep them for company. They have not been handled aggressively or improperly. The price is a bit exorbitant considering the quality.Date published: 2019-07-28Rated 4 out of 5 by Morgan2012 from Lovely, test for grind consistency before you buy Beautiful grinder, but I'm very glad I tested the grind consistency at the store before I chose one. Four out of five were not consistent in grind size. The only annoying thing about this is that the top screw comes loose every time I use it, otherwise it is gorgeous and works well. I bought the 16-inch pepper mill in chocolate.Date published: 2019-07-23Rated 5 out of 5 by David68 from Great Pepper Mill I am loving this pepper mill. I have had so many different pepper mills in the past and they all wound up in the same place, the trash can... This pepper mill is a dream to use and with 6 different grinds with the flick of the wrist, you what you want when you want it. I recommend this grinder to everyone wanting a true pepper mill. You want go wrong with Peugeot.Date published: 2018-02-25Rated 5 out of 5 by laura from Love it! I got the pepper mill for my birthday last year and I love it! Quality is amazing. I'm going to get the salt mill too.Date published: 2017-10-17Rated 5 out of 5 by DebbsSeattle from Tried and true Looking to outfit our new vacation home and do not want to skimp in the kitchen...we love to cook. I bought this pepper mill about 5 years ago as every mill I ever bought failed. This has held up and continues to operate as it did on day one. Feels quality like in hand, finish has not worn, grind is adjustable with ease (arthritis friendly). Think I will get the set for home and move the pepper to the vacation house.Date published: 2017-10-06Rated 5 out of 5 by Britgal from Very good quality I purchased the 7 inch pair of pepper/salt grinders which are just perfect size for everyday use. They grind just as the dial states. My only problem is that the cap comes loose and needs to be tightened every time I use it. I am ordering the same product for my grandson.Date published: 2017-09-25Rated 5 out of 5 by FlowersOhio from Great gift! Chosen from the wedding registry. The bridge and groom were thrilled with the gift. I like the salt & pepper mills so much, I'm purchasing for myself as well.Date published: 2015-12-30Rated 3 out of 5 by LaszloC from Disappointing all round U-Select gimmick poorly engineered. Not independent of top nut. For coarser grinds you must tighten nut or top flops about. Go back to fine grinds, selection ring binds unless nut is loosened. Better than old way of adjusting nut for different grinds? No. Now must make 2 adjusts instead of 1 because tightness of nut affects grind Grind well? Not impressed. Output not uniform. Less so for coarser grinds. Finest setting produces fine to medium bits. By comparison, parent’s simple 35-year-old Peugeot dispenses consistently fine dust (and dispenses with vulgar branding; brand on steel mechanism only) Ugly Peugeot “P" enameled on top constantly reminds of brand, as if logo on selector not tacky enough to do job. Yes, P also for pepper, because we are too stupid or visually impaired to figure out it's not a salt shaker (salt grinders & boutique salt are ridiculous--shouldn't use either) Selection marks painted not engraved Plastic parts in selector & pepper holderDate published: 2015-09-19
What kind of salt should we buy to put in the salt mill so that it grinds properly. We've tried several different salt sizes and haven't got one that works yet.DHi RobH, To get the best out of your Peugeot salt grinding mechanism, you should use: -Dry, coarse salts, with a diameter of 4 mm (0.16″) -Sea salt -Rock salt (mined from an underground salt seam) Do not use damp sea salt, also known as grey salt, (Guérande, Ré, etc.) because its moisture content is so high that it will corrode the mill.Date published: 2019-10-05
