A few blood orange slices give our version of this beloved aperitif its fruity bite. In Italy, where the Negroni was born, the cocktail is typically made with equal parts gin, Campari and vermouth. Our recipe honors that golden ratio, but if you find that the gin is too strong for your liking, we recommend replacing it with the same amount of Prosecco or tonic water instead.

Ingredients:

  • 2 fl. oz. (60 ml) Campari
  • 2 fl. oz. (60 ml) sweet vermouth
  • 2 fl. oz. (60 ml) London dry gin (or Prosecco or tonic water)
  • 2 blood orange slices

Directions:

In a short tumbler glass filled with ice, combine the Campari, vermouth and gin. (If using Prosecco or tonic water, make sure to top the drink with it after adding the Campari and vermouth.) Stir gently to combine. Garnish with a few blood orange slices and serve immediately. Makes 1 drink.
