The bûche de Noël is a French holiday favorite, inspired by the giant yule logs that were traditionally burned on Christmas Eve. The bakers at the small, family-owned We Take the Cake bakery in Florida have handcrafted this one with their best-selling chocolate génoise cake, rolled with rich coffee buttercream and finished with chocolate cream cheese frosting "bark." Berry-laden fondant holly leaves and blooms add a festive flourish.

- The cake ships frozen with dry ice, which may have evaporated during shipment. This is normal. Please take care not to touch any remaining dry ice with bare hands. Upon receipt, remove the cake from the bakery box and store in the freezer for up to 3 months, or defrost in the refrigerator overnight and keep for up to 7 days.
- The cake is best enjoyed at room temperature. To remove the cake from the box, unfold the box so that the front panel lies flat and you can slide the cake out of the box with ease. Remove the plastic from the cake while it is still frozen. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Once thawed, allow the cake to come to room temperature, approximately 4 hours before serving. Poinsettia leaves and blooms are attached to wires for stability and presentation. Please be aware of the wires as you unwrap the poinsettia decorations; they help the blooms maintain their shape. Place this decoration atop the cake before serving (but do not consume, as the wires are hazardous). To serve, run a large knife under hot water and dry with a towel before every slice. Store leftover cake in an airtight container, where it will keep up to 3 days refrigerated.

It was so moist and so delicious everyone raved about it and a few of the guests said it was the best cake they ever tasted and were going to order one for Christmas! It was packaged perfectly, it is stored in the freezer then transferred to the fridge to defrost for 24 hours, then bring it to room temperature before it's served.Date published: 2018-12-08
