Aperol, an Italian aperitif that is somewhat similar to Campari but less intensely bitter, gives this summery cocktail its sunny orange hue. For an especially pretty presentation, garnish the drink with a melon ball.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2-inch (4-cm) cube fresh melon, such as cantaloupe or honeydew
  • 1 1/2 oz. (45 ml) blanco tequila
  • 3/4 oz. (20 ml) Aperol
  • 1/2 oz. (15 ml) dry vermouth
  • 1/2 oz. (15 ml) fresh lemon juice

Directions:

In a cocktail shaker, muddle the melon until it releases some of its juice. Fill the shaker with ice and add the tequila, Aperol, vermouth and lemon juice. Shake vigorously, strain into a coupe or martini glass and serve immediately. Makes 1 drink.
