Rated 1 out of 5 by Dan Newton from Made in China. Flawed design. Broke. Broke where the stem meets the scoop. Look elsewhere for a sturdy trowel...Date published: 2017-04-13Rated 2 out of 5 by Merbrad from pretty but not the best quality A gift from my parents two years ago for Christmas, I was excited to use it in the Spring. It has lasted only two summers. Last summer in my Chicago clay-ish soil, the trowel snapped, right at the weakest point, where the handle metal is pressed onto the scoop part. The box it came in has served a higher purpose: to hold my seed packets until next season. Yes, it is lovely in these ways: very deep for big scoops of dirt, feels great in my hand, is easy to wipe clean, and performed well until I put it under torque pressure it couldn't handle. I wasn't digging rocks or tree roots. Now I will go buy yet another trowel.... and hope that the "lovely" labeling of this trowel doesn't fool anyone else. Please, Sophie Conran, redesign your trowel so that it can actually last, as was promised on the packaging.Date published: 2017-03-07Rated 5 out of 5 by anyhon from Soft handle but Strong! My new favorite trowel! It does fit the hand well, feels good and gives one the ability to dig without much pressure. Other trowels made dents in the palm of my hand and hurt after using for a few minutes while this one is fantastic! The weakest part of a trowel is the joint between the handle and the shovel. This one is very strong and will last for Years. The shovel is rounded up and makes a great scoop too. Last, it is so pretty (a first for me) that I actually wash it off and return it to its box after each use:)Date published: 2012-08-02Rated 3 out of 5 by SeattleGardener from Very attractive, poor quality I bought the hand trowel and payed to have my initials put on it and after owning it for only 1 month with minimal use, the brass ring around the handle is begining to crack. I was very disappointed. These tools are very pretty but lacking a bit in the quality department.Date published: 2012-07-07Rated 4 out of 5 by Chipbutty from Beautiful packaging I just purchases several of these SC tools and already have other tools made by Burgon & Ball, all of which are beautifully made and lovely to look at. But here's my big complaint, and as a designer Sophie really should have thought more about the function of these tools - there are no holes or strings to hang them up with. The B & B tools I bought previously (not designed by SC) have holes with a leather strap so I can hang them from a hook in the shed. Why would anyone design garden tools and not include some way to hang them? It may be a small feature but for all the hoohaa about her designs I was disappointed.Date published: 2012-06-02
