Rated 5 out of 5 by LA Robyn from A work of art! I bought this after our wedding to salt...it's a bit large, but beautiful and exactly what we needed!Date published: 2017-10-27Rated 5 out of 5 by smittycdm from Beautiful Wood-keeper Next to Stovetop As my friend Kenji says (my husband hates when I start a sentence that way! but don't we all know Mr. Food Lab?) I'm paraphrasing, you should always have salt on your cooktop (not oils or herbs & spices, but that's another discussion). I previously used a ramekin, it wasn't good, for some reason the salt absorbed moisture. I also use a little dipping spoon, in case my fingers are really messy. I read some reviews that said not to purchase this on-line. Well, mine is beautious and I purchased it on-line. Thanks for reading.Date published: 2017-03-07Rated 4 out of 5 by SuSu2 from Nice Salt Keeper It's attractive and useful. But, this is one of those items I recommend picking out in the store due to it's variations in quality. Some had slight cracks and not all of the lids operated smoothly. But, it may have been due to too many customers handling them. I also don't recommend filling with too much salt at a time. It has turned my Fleur de Sel French sea salt slightly tan in color, when not used often, and I've had to throw the salt away.Date published: 2017-01-21Rated 2 out of 5 by Cgrm from Product was nice, however I purchased the olive wood salt keeper for my hubby. The product was well made and beautiful. My two stars is because the engraving, which I paid extra, came out horrible. It look like it was quickly done, plus it's crooked. I should of opt out of it but I thought it would be a great added touch. Because it was personalized, I can't return.Date published: 2016-12-26Rated 2 out of 5 by Swanky from Has about half the claimed capacity It is a mystery why we are told in two separate places on the website that this item has an 8-oz capacity. It was instantly clear to me, looking at the 8.8-oz little bag of fleur de sel in my kitchen, that it was not going to fit into this very wide-walled box. In fact I weighed the salt that I was able to comfortably fit, and it came to 3.8 ounces. Beautiful object, but very pricy for something that only holds half of what is claimed for it. What's going on, Williams Sonoma?Date published: 2016-12-06Rated 5 out of 5 by Aynos from Easy to use When cooking, it is so convenient to grab a pinch of salt (or whatever seasoning you choose to place in it) and throw it in your dish. It's so pretty I leave it out on the counter.Date published: 2016-03-15Rated 5 out of 5 by TimY from Beautiful item; right at home in high-end kitchen This salt keeper is compact enough to hide away and beautiful enough to leave out for display if desired. Practical for an active cook...one-handed manipulation of the magnetic clasp is possible. Holds a good amount of salt. The olive wood is gorgeous and has a wonderful feel to it.Date published: 2016-01-08Rated 5 out of 5 by CMCM49 from Work of Art This really is a gorgeous thing and looks wonderful on my table. Each one is unique due to the wood grain, but they are all quite beautiful. Heavy, beautifully made, and the magnet holding the top closed is stronger than on other similar salt keepers I've seen. Berard makes truly beautiful wood items…I have one of their spatulas that I absolutely love. If you put a bit of Boos board cream (made for cutting boards) on the outside of this salt keeper occasionally, it will look even deeper and richer in grain and color, and the cream will also help keep the wood moist. I use mine for keeping my rather expensive Celtic Fleur du Sel Sea salt for use at the table. Expensive yes, but a bit more affordable if you can order on one of the 20% offers from WS.Date published: 2015-10-10
