Rated 3 out of 5 by Raine from Tasty madeleines but... The box contains two piping bags, enough to make 2 dozen madeleines. I've made madeleines before, so having the frozen mix assume that level of familiarity was a bit of 'ok, not a problem' for me. However: I really, really wish the box had come with better instructions, or just printed instructions, period, and a better packaging to keep the mix completely frozen (environmentally friendly is nice but styrofoam keeps stuff frozen longer, and this was not packaged in the latter). I opened it to find the dry ice completely evaporated, which made me panic until I saw the instructions under the product info on this site. That said: the lack of 'where to cut off the piping bag', 'how much to pipe', and how 'golden brown' is 'golden brown' info made me guess (and overfill some of my forms). I wound up baking my madeleines way longer than the stated instructions. If someone was buying these mixes because they don't know how to make it from scratch, the lack of clear instructions makes it even worse for the price. I loved the final result (vanilla bean madeleines are yum!) but I would have appreciated better instructions in (or on!) the box, and better packaging to keep the madeleine mix frozen and not sopping wet (the plastic bags and the box were both wet from condensation) until I opened the box. Next time, I'll just make my own batter and freeze it. I honestly thought I was getting a better mix for the price but it's not any better in flavor than what I've made in the past. The only good part is the convenience of not having to pour batter into piping bags.Date published: 2019-08-31
