- More about Le Creuset
The first Le Creuset foundry opened in 1925 in Fresnoy-le-Grand, France, and specialized in cast-iron cookware. The cast-iron pieces are still made at the original factory, using the traditional techniques of hand forging and casting in individual sand molds. The brightly pigmented porcelain-enamel glaze that first set Le Creuset cookware apart from other cast-iron cookware now comes in a wide range of traditional and contemporary colors. In 2013, Le Creuset began producing innovative stainless-steel cookware in Portugal with lids that incorporate the same signature three-ring design as the company's classic cast-iron pieces. This stainless-steel collection was awarded the prestigious 2014 Red Dot Award for product design.

Rated 3 out of 5 by koifish7 from red balti dish I recieved my Red Balti Dish 1 3/4 qt. I was a little disappointed in the color. It is really a two-toned red/orange then the bottom half is dark. Not at all what I expected from the picture portrayed online. I bought this believing it was a total RED color. But I guess that is not happening. IF there is a Total Red color please let me know.Date published: 2017-10-08Rated 5 out of 5 by AlleyS from Love this little versatile dish! I received this as a wedding gift in the matte aqua 3 qt. size. At first was wondering if I would actually use it since I'm not much of an Indian cook but I have to say I love it! I have used it the most to make risotto. Also used for stir fry, soups and sauces. Cooks very evenly and bonus, it's perfectly beautiful to serve from on the table! As with all Le Creuset cast-iron, it's a little on the heavier side but doesn't bother me.Date published: 2017-02-23Rated 5 out of 5 by Devorah from Perfect for so many things My sister got me this as a birthday gift and I am thrilled! I have been wanting a cast iron wok like piece of cookware for a long time. This balti dish is amazing. I make lots of stir fries and curries and this pan holds a constant heat with no issues. It is perfect for roasting cumin seeds and indian spices perfectly before adding proteins and sauces to the curry you are making. It makes the most wonderful Indian potato dishes, Thai curries, asian noodle dishes. I make fried rice, great veggie stir fries, and even wonderful scramble eggs in this pot! Perfect for miso soup too! You name it, this pot can do it. I am in love. It hasn't left my stove top! I have the larger size and it is wonderful. But if my generous sister wanted to buy me the small size for my next birthday I wouldn't stop her :)Date published: 2016-07-14Rated 5 out of 5 by ItalianCoffeeLover from Great for all types of Asian cuisine As the name and description suggests, this is a treat for cooking SE Asian dishes such as curries, baltis, daal, etc. It provides great even heating you'd expect from Le Creuset and the curved sides are great for sauce reduction. The curve sides also serve nicely for other cuisines such as stir fries. And the beautiful contrasting black and red makes it a conversation piece everytime it's on the table. The main thing to watch out for is the fact that this isn't non-stick, strictly speaking. So be careful when searing or frying any proteins to constantly stir or use a bit more oil than you would for a non-stick surface. Regardless, clean up is easy if anything does get a bit stuck, after a good soak. Finally, I highly recommend getting the larger size for versatility if you ever plan on cooking for more than 2 people.Date published: 2015-12-28
