Rated 2 out of 5 by gigi3 from Just so disappointed I replaced my still-working 5qt with this work horse of a 6qt (I passed my beloved 14 year old 5qt on to my daughter) and after well over a year of owning this monster, I'm still so very disappointed in how this one does not hold a candle to the smaller ones. I'm considering trying to sell it and repurchase a 5qt that I know will mix ALL the ingredients of whatever is being mixed.Date published: 2019-04-14Rated 5 out of 5 by Jolene56 from Easy to use, great for heavy mixing. I'm very happy that I got the glass bowl. So easy to see if everything has been completely mixed together. Bad designs & no help from KitchenAid If you want a mixer to sit on the counter and look pretty, go ahead and buy this mixer. If you actually use this for the workhorse that a 6qt mixer can be, keep shopping. The inside of the mixing bowl has chipped repeatedly with normal use! have we eaten this glass? Who knows? I wasn't baking with car parts! KitchenAid knows this glass is an issue: none of the beaters get anywhere close to the bottom of the bowl so you will constantly be incorporating the last of the ingredients by hand from bread dough to egg whites. And the rubber ring around the outside edge is impossible to keep clean. It's not removable and food and water get stuck underneath. If you wash too aggressively, it peels and fails. There is a 6 qt model with a metal bowl and it actually costs less. If you like the look of glass, get the lift head model. This mixer was a disappointment and not nearly as useful as my last model that worked for 15+ years. And if you want to bite the bullet and replace the bowl just to get you through the baking season? Nope this glass bowl is out of stock and the only metal bowl available for this model is 3 qt. What? Customer service could offer no solutions and wouldn't even trade down for the less expensive metal 6 qt model. High and dry - no fresh bread for Easter!Date published: 2019-03-25Rated 3 out of 5 by Kathleen2000 from Glass Bowl I agree with the reviewer from 2 years ago. You really need to have a stainless steel bowl option instead of the glass bowl. I knew the first time I used it that this was going to be a serious problem for me. It is far too heavy, difficult to attach and it is very difficult to clean the little pieces of smear that accumulate on the bowl during the proofing of bread sponge, even if I try to clean it immediately. I bake a lot of bread. I believe most of my older friends will have the same complaint about the heavy bowl and my younger friends won't like the hefty price tag. The primary reason I purchased is that I have hundreds of dollars in attachments.Date published: 2019-03-25Rated 5 out of 5 by 1950mary from Love it. I’ve had it for a couple of months and would highly recommend the the larger mixer. The power is so useful. My 30 year old Kitchenaid retired and was replaced by the 6500 in my kitchen. This mixer is Powerful and so simple to use. In my first week of ownership I have mashed potatoes (to the delight of my husband), made bread dough and cake batter. All turned out beautifully. The coated attachments pop in the dishwasher for easy cleanup. I wouldn’t change a thing. (And the candy apple red looks lovely on my counter). Have owned three. Two years ago my husband bought this mixer for me for Christmas because we make so many cookies and he knew I wanted something that could handle bigger batches. It does! However, the bowl is really heavy and I understand that a metal bowl is not available for this series? Also, it is noisier than my other two were and I worry that something is wrong with it. The dough on the bottom of the bowl never gets mixed in so I have to keep stopping, lower the bowl, remove the beater and scrape it up. It seems to work better with a really full bowl but everything I make is not that big. I gave my other, standard mixer to my grandkids...and I miss it! Is there some way to solve the dough on the bottom problem? And can I get a metal bowl for this mixer? I see that one person complained that she couldn't find a beater with the rubber on it but one came with my mixer???? Was that an error? Thanks!Date published: 2019-02-17Rated 5 out of 5 by xladyheart from It's a Wonder!! My heart has always been with Kitchen Aide and this mixer truly will be my last one. I have the 4 1/2 qt. and the 5 1/2 qt. from when they came out in the 90's. The power is almost like a mixer I would use at work. I am a pastry chef....I also cook. I truly love the glass bowl!
