- More about Berndes
Headquartered in Arnsberg, Germany, this family-owned cookware company was founded by Heinrich Berndes in 1921. After countless experiments with cookware coatings in the 1950s, Berndes revolutionized the cookware market in 1975 by introducing the first cast-aluminum pan with a groundbreaking nonstick coating. Carrying on its tradition of innovation, Berndes now uses eco-friendly PFOA- and PTFE-free ceramic nonstick coatings on its cookware. Legendary German engineering shines in the thoughtful design of each piece, from the selection of materials to the shape and functionality of the removable stick handles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by sveltekitten from PERFECTION! I absolutely love this pan. I've had it about a year and it still looks like new. It does a great job with non-stick and is so easy to clean. Not sure why people are having problems with scratching, I use a silicone spatula and have had no problems. Not too heavy, Love that it is made in Germany too, I refuse to buy China-made products.Date published: 2017-10-12Rated 1 out of 5 by Slumberingdragon from Too expensive, not nonstick. DO NOT BUY This was a beautiful pan when it arrived. After just a few uses, every time with only non-metal utensils, it became scratched and flawed. It is hard to clean, probably because I can only scrub it with safe scrubbing sponges. EVERYTHING sticks. Even on low heat the pan gets extremely hot. I still use it but I dread it. The handle is supposed to detach so you can use it in the oven. And it does. But it is very wobbly and unstable. With a pan this heavy, I'd expect a very steady handle, even one that is removable. Oh, and this didn't come with a lid either. There are better, cheaper options. I'm starting to think Teflon is worth the health risk.Date published: 2017-05-18Rated 1 out of 5 by XOT1 from do not buy this I am so disappointed in this item. It is advertised as nonstick and it sticks like crazy. Even with oil. Even just for scrambled eggs. I have hand washed it, I have followed the manufacturer's instructions, I have heat treated it for ceramic pans--it is a waste of money. A very expensive pan that doesn't deliver.Date published: 2017-03-26Rated 2 out of 5 by disappionted from keep looking I purchased this pan for a couple of reasons and was willing to pay extra for them. 1- PFOA-, PTFE- and PFOS-free; contains no cadmium 2- Made in Germany (not China) I also love that the handle comes off and is oven-able to 750 degrees. Unfortunately this pan chipped after less than five uses. All cooking eggs... I treated this pan as a precious object.... and was the only one using it. I read some bad reviews on another web site regarding the non stick properties. I ignored them and was right to do so. The non stick is acceptable, as long as you know how to cook and don't expect miracles.Date published: 2016-12-26Rated 5 out of 5 by Huntindawg from Excellent cookware We bought the 13" from WS website about a month ago and are very impressed with these compared to other ceramic pans we have tried. A good thing as these are more pricey so need to offer something. The non-stick characteristic is way better on this series of pans over the others we have tried. We had to get this series as we have an induction cooktop. The easy to remove handle is nice for cleaning, storage, and in-oven use where you keep a cool handle rather than remembering how hot the handle may be (or getting reminded). Will be the rest of the set. Worth the shipping wait IMO. VERY easy to clean -bacon grease, burnt milk and cheese- all wipe right out.Date published: 2016-08-07Rated 5 out of 5 by smeary from JUST THAT EASY! i've been through any number of pans from any number of makers for any number of years and found something to be either disappointing or problematic with them all. as one last attempt to find a non-stick pan that didn't discolor or peel or end up with stuff stuck to it all the same i finally tried a Berndes. these pans cook quickly, evenly and do so best on low heat. they're close to effortless to use and to clean. the white finish makes it easier to see what's going on. and using them has completely changed the way we cook -- with better results. highly recommended!Date published: 2016-04-02Rated 4 out of 5 by Flyhigh from Excellent product Most satisfying pan but pricy. I have tried quite a few different nonstick fry pans ranging from relatively less expensive to Berndes Vario Click Pearl Ceramic Nonstick Fry pan. After using this pan about a month, I can say this product holds better than others I tried. Lighter weight than other ceramic pans of the same size. Cleaning is not as easy as expected at times. But I think price seems to be relatively high.Date published: 2015-06-10
