Use & Care

Use

  • Must be placed at least 4" from adjacent walls for adequate air circulation. The exterior of the unit heats up while in use.
  • Caution should be exercised when using pans and dishes constructed of materials other than metal. If using ceramic or glass pans or dishes, it is important that they are oven safe to prevent cracking.
  • Avoid using utensils on the nonstick interior.

Care

  • Removable crumb tray, broil rack, pizza pan, and baking pan are dishwasher safe.
  • Avoid using harsh detergents, abrasive cleansers or scouring pads.
  • Clean exterior and interior with damp cloth; do not touch or clean quartz heating elements.
  • Glass door may be cleaned with glass cleaner or a damp cloth; stubborn residue may be removed using a soft plastic scouring pad.

Dried Fruit Granola Bar Recipe

Have all the ingredients at room temperature.

Preheat an oven to 350ºF. Grease a quarter sheet pan, line with parchment paper and grease the top of the parchment.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the flat beater, beat the butter on medium speed until creamy, about 2 minutes. Reduce the speed to medium-low, add the brown sugar and granulated sugar and beat for 30 seconds, then increase the speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes. Reduce the speed to low, add the egg and beat until incorporated, about 1 minute. Increase the speed to medium-low, add the flour mixture and beat until just incorporated, about 1 minute. Add the granola, dried apples and raisins and beat until just combined. Press the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.

Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bars comes out clean, about 25 minutes. Let the bars cool completely in the pan, then turn them out onto a wire rack, remove the parchment paper and turn the bars right side up onto another rack.

In a bowl, stir together the confectioners’ sugar and milk. Add the peanut butter and stir until smooth. Drizzle lightly over the bars and let stand until the mixture sets up, about 30 minutes. Cut in half crosswise, then cut each half crosswise into nine bars, each 1 inch wide. Makes 18 granola bars.

The smart oven gets used every day several times: breakfast, lunch, dinner unless it's soup! We also have the coffee grinder and like it a lot.

Also comes in handy over the holiday as a second oven. I've never had any problems with it in the 5 years I've had it. The one negative is that the bottom tray is hard to clean up when food gets baked on it.

Results are equal to or superior to my full size range oven. I set temperature at 25 degrees F. Lower than recipe when using convection and bake for the recipe's recommended time. The oven will shut off when the cooking time has expired so set the time for additional minutes if you do not want this feature. This oven has been in constant use for over a year with no operational problems. My only wish is that the oven light feature had been available when I purchased.

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Oven Keeps Breaking Down We bought this highly recommended Smart Oven in Nov 2012. In OCTOBER 2014, while toasting an English muffin it stopped working. The thermal fuse failed. After calling Breville I decided to fix it following directions on the web as their options were not very desireable. In Aug 2015, the fuse went again and Breville's solution was less than useful. In Sep 2015 again failed on toasting job. This device draws 15 Amps (1800 Watts). The fuse is rated at 10 Amps and 250 V. It ought not fail in normal use. Poor design. Great device if it works for you though. Company probably had some bad fuses and will not acknowledge it - many complaints on web. Just found a 15 Amp thermal fuse and will see if it fixes it. Would not buy again although we now depend on it.

It looks good and we use it for so many different things. My 11 yr old son could make his own lunch this summer and we loved using it instead of turning on the hot oven. My only complaint is that it does take a little longer to toast bread or bagels. Maybe because it is large. But even with that we are thoroughly pleased with this little oven.

It bakes, broils, toast, and takes over for my ex-pizza maker and does almost all my baking; It is easy to clean and love the bottom tray that pulls out. Takes up small space but doesn't over heat up the kitchen. I have used this oven to cook toast to broiling spareribs, many pies and cookies and treats.

It sits beautifully on my counter taking up very little space but performing all the functions of my larger normal oven, but easier and better. When I first considered this appliance I was concerned about a few of the negative reviews citing quality and longevity issues. I've had the oven for six months now and it performs flawlessly in my smaller kitchen. The oven in my range is a good quality digitally controlled oven, but it takes some time to heat up. The Breville oven heats quickly without heating up my small apartment. I use it for roasting meats, baking potatoes, cooking pies and baking lasagna. This little oven gets top marks from me I would recommend it to anyone looking at supplementing a larger conventional oven.
