Recipe developer and coffee blogger Morgan Eckroth of Morgan Drinks Coffee calls this drink “a painkiller that’s acceptable at both 7AM and 7PM.” Rich and fruity, it gets its silky texture not just from the coffee but also the cream of coconut. For the full tropical effect, Morgan recommends adding a brightly colored edible flower for garnish.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. (60 ml) cold brew concentrate
  • 1 1/2 oz. (45 ml) pineapple juice
  • 1 oz. (30 ml) freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 oz. (30 ml) cream of coconut
  • Pineapple frond, washed and trimmed, for garnish
  • Orange wheel for garnish
  • Freshly grated nutmeg for garnish

Directions

In the smaller tin of a Boston shaker, add the cold brew concentrate, pineapple juice, orange juice and cream of coconut. Add ice and shake vigorously until the tins have frosted over.

Place a Hawthorne strainer on top of the larger tin and strain into a 12-oz. (375-ml) glass filled with crushed ice.

Nestle the pineapple frond in the ice along the side of the glass. Nestle the orange wheel in front of the pineapple frond so that it stands upright in the drink. Add more crushed ice if needed. Garnish with the nutmeg and serve. Makes 1 drink.
