Rated 3 out of 5 by rocketmatt from works great then gives up its ghost i was pleasantly surprised with the accuracy and ease of use. used it with confidence probably 1 to 3 times a month for about a year to a year and a half, then i just quit! there is no troubleshooting guide that comes with it, and so do not know if calibration is needed or if the control/ readout unit is under engineered for longevity.Date published: 2016-09-28Rated 4 out of 5 by funnycook from Great for about a year I like it when it works, but have gone through 3 of these. When they work, they work great and are easy to use. The temperature is pretty accurate. But usually after about a year, either the probe doesn't work or the unit stops working. I've tried others and went back to this, but expect that it won't work forever. Need to work on product durabilityDate published: 2015-12-26Rated 5 out of 5 by Maepire from Husband's Favorite Gadget Our other thermometer died...dark days in our household. I got my husband this one for his birthday because some friends of ours recommended it. He loves it and uses it "almost" daily (he is very picky about meat done-ness). OXO products never disappoint.Date published: 2015-02-17Rated 5 out of 5 by GatorChic from Favorite Kitchen Tool Surprised by the less than favorable reviews - purchased this a couple of years ago and it quickly became my go-to kitchen tool. So accurate that when turned on, it actually registered the temperature inside our house before placing it into meat for cooking! The product only lasted about two years and then suddenly died. However, it was used multiple times a week for two years - a great investment!Date published: 2014-11-21Rated 1 out of 5 by Hollon from Don't buy it! It worked great and was very accurate, but completely quit working after approximately six months.Date published: 2014-10-20Rated 5 out of 5 by CEMM from Love this thermometer I am so surprised by the other bad reviews of this thermometer. I just hopped online to buy a second one - we accidentally lit the first one on fire in a little grill incident. As with any thermometer you need to make sure you are putting the probe in the right place. Always the thinnest section of steak, always the middle of the poultry breast, etc. This tool has NEVER let me down and I have cooked perfect meats for years.Date published: 2014-02-01Rated 1 out of 5 by cinnybake from inaccurate I just threw mine away! I have had it for a couple of years. It never worked accurately. My Thanksgiving turkey was under cooked and my Christmas roast was over cooked. To make matters worse, this thermometer eats batteries like crazy- I had to change them after every use!Date published: 2013-12-29Rated 1 out of 5 by Fcccc from Doesn't work Does not function it is awful Reads 200 degrees when food is rawDate published: 2013-11-27
