Dresden Stollen with Marzipan
Rich, buttery stollen has been a German holiday tradition for over 500 years. The Dresden bakery that produces ours has been perfecting its recipe since 1825. Each sweet yeast loaf is made by hand and packed with plump rum-soaked raisins and dried fruits, with a rich layer of marzipan at the center. After shaping and baking, the loaf is dipped in melted butter and vanilla sugar, then finished with a sprinkling of confectioners' sugar. Gift-packaged in a decorative keepsake tin, stolen makes the perfect treat for breakfast, brunch or afternoon tea.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mozartfan from Excellent, top notch Stollen! We purchased three of these for Christmas this year, a wonderful tradition to hold on to. They tasted delicious, warmed up or left at room temperature. A great festive afternoon snack with tea or coffee and perhaps some whipped cream on the side. Delicious! Best Stollen I ever had....will purchase again next year, great quality item, everybody loves it.Date published: 2017-01-02Rated 5 out of 5 by MissDarby from A Family Favorite Serving this stollen has been one of our family Christmas morning traditions for years. The stollen is moist and flavorful and the marzipan adds a richness which makes it irresistible.Date published: 2015-12-26Rated 4 out of 5 by oldschool from Delicious with Espresso Had no idea what to expect as Stollen was a mystery food to me. Very pleased as not too sweet, not too moist. Great with espresso in the morning. Maybe as a German biscotti? Not hard, not soft, just right. Actually I cannot describe it, other than a European sweet bread. If you like heavily sugared American desserts I would avoid. The directions recommend heating the Stollen. I tried it heated and preferred it room temperature out of the tin. Quality and taste were wonderful. I have purchased once so maybe lucky? I will purchase a couple of these next Christmas season.Date published: 2015-01-26Rated 2 out of 5 by ChristaCelt from Nice - but not that nice I have ordered the plain Dresden stollen for several years. This was my first experience of the marzipan addition. There was only a small center of marzipan that was off center and not present at all toward either end of the stollen. The tin it was delivered in will not stay closed. At the advice of a German friend I bought a stollen at local specialty food store that was as good if not better than the plain or marzipan variety of stollen. 2014 is the last year I pay grossly inflated prices simply to have a stollen direct from Dresden. The quality does not match the price point.Date published: 2015-01-19Rated 5 out of 5 by CLM1 from Holiday Must Have Arrives fresh. Wonderful rich buttery cake with sweet dried fruit and marzipan running through the cake. We will always order this, just the best.Date published: 2015-01-13Rated 3 out of 5 by Tom2M from Dresden Stollen wth MARZIPAN Dresden Stollen wth MARZIPAN — the key issue here is the % of Marzipan. I couldn't resist opening the beautiful rectangular tin from Dresden with gold writing on it! The contents were wrapped in red Christmas paper with tissue paper surrounding this prescious stolen. I sliced a piece and microwaved it for 15 seconds and ate it with a cup of tea. I was hooked ! Everyday I sliced off another piece until it was gone! I had to order another one just to have for Christmas! I also ordered one to be sent to my mother, who loves stolen, because this was indeed a real gift and presented so beautifully..Date published: 2012-12-19
