The Five Style Rules That Inspired
The Collection

Pink Doesn't Have to Be Girly

PINK DOESN’T HAVE TO BE GIRLY

“Whenever I’m left to my own devices with a client, I go to pink,” says Paloma. “It really is my favorite color!” The hue doesn’t have to feel overtly feminine, notes the designer “It can be modern or traditional, it can act as a big punch of bold color or a subtle layer.” The pink incorporated into her Williams Sonoma Home collection is one that Paloma has deemed her “signature pink” because it has the right balance of bright color and subtle sophistication.

Black and White Can Be a Neutral

BLACK AND WHITE CAN BE A NEUTRAL

“When designing a space I often start with black and white as a base layer because it lends a very graphic, modern pop to anything,” says Paloma. “The trick is to use black and white in a mindful way and treat it almost as you would an animal print,” advises the designer. Her Williams Sonoma Home black and white decorative objects are designed to anchor a space and draw the eye in with clean lines, then layer in mixed metals, textures and color.

Delight in the Details

3

DELIGHT IN THE DETAILS

“A big reason I chose to partner with Williams Sonoma Home for my collection was the dedication to craftsmanship,” says Paloma. From the Swiss knots on the appliqué pillows to the bespoke, luxurious material of the bedding, Paloma believes that bespoke, designer-driven details are key to making any space feel more layered and thoughtful. “When you have details that highlight handmade techniques you know that there is a lasting level of quality,” says Paloma. Combining craftsmanship with a timeless aesthetic creates a rich, personal space to live.

Make the Most of Mirrors

4

MAKE THE MOST OF MIRRORS

The mirrors in Paloma’s Williams Sonoma Home collection can be the unsung heroes of any space. “I treat mirrors like art,” says Paloma. “It’s tempting to cover a big expanse of wall with a lot of art, but too much of anything is not a good thing,” says Paloma. She turns to mirrors to offer a visual reprieve on a wall. “I love using a big, overscale mirror as a statement or a small mirror to punctuate a space or vignette,” she says.

Have a Pattern Strategy

5

HAVE A PATTERN STRATEGY

Paloma begins every project with a “hero fabric” – a textile swatch that inspires her enough that she can build a space around it. On a smaller scale, it’s also the perfect strategy to use to style a sofa with mixed and matched pillows. “Start with a pattern you love that speaks to you,” advises Paloma. (In this case, her ikat pillowcase.) Then, find two or three more pillows that each match back the original pillow in color or pattern and complement each other. “Use your favorite pattern to be a common thread between the layers.”
