Casual Brunch for Mom
A brunch that you've cooked yourself is a lovely way to honor Mom on her special day. This simple menu, perfect for a casual gathering, includes tender crepes that are filled with fresh ricotta cheese and garnished with the season's first berries. Apple and sausage patties add a savory note to the meal. And for dessert, our lemon cloud tart topped with fluffy meringue and sugared violets will prove irresistible. What could be a better gift on Mother's Day?
Brunch for Mom
To honor Mom on her special day, we put a fresh spin on some classic brunch dishes. Instead of standard blueberry pancakes, try our petite ones that are cooked in a filled-pancake pan; each fluffy little gem has a few fresh blueberries tucked inside. On the side, serve thick-cut bacon slices glazed with pure maple syrup, which creates a marvelous contrast of savory, salty and sweet. Our version of a sparkling Champagne cocktail includes plump blackberries that have been macerated in triple sec. This festive drink is perfect for toasting the Mom in your life.
Mother’s Day Brunch Menu from Chef Suzanne Goin
Suzanne Goin, award-winning chef/owner of four Southern California restaurants—and the busy mom of three young children—created this menu especially for us. It combines everything she would want to eat on Mother’s Day.
“When we go out for breakfast or brunch, I always have that battle—do I want sweet or do I want savory?” Suzanne says. “The nice thing about this is you get to have both.”
And she’s right. From a cheesy frittata to rich dulce de leche brownies, these dishes will satisfy all ages and tastes.
Waffles for Mother's Day
Treat Mom to a special Mother’s Day breakfast with build-your-own waffles. Prepare a waffle for each family member, and let everyone help themselves to toppings -- strawberry puree, honey whipped cream and even eggs and bacon for a savory twist. Round out the meal with a vibrant juice and a salad of freshly cut fruit.
Mother’s Day Dinner
Surprise Mom on Mother’s Day by cooking a special dinner. This menu features fajitas—steak and bell peppers wrapped inside warm flour tortillas. They’re fun to make and delicious to eat. Mom will be so impressed, she’ll want you to become the family chef!
Ask Dad to take you shopping, then he can lend a hand as you prepare the meal.
- Help cut the vegetables for the salsa and guacamole.
- Slice the bell peppers, onions and steak for the fajitas; sear the steak.
- Help kids use the electric mixer for the cheesecake and bake the cake.
- Supervise kids as they prepare the agua fresca in a blender.
- With Dad’s help, prepare the salsa and guacamole, then taste them to make sure the seasonings are just right.
- Squeeze the lime juice, pluck the cilantro leaves off the stems and prepare the marinade for the steak.
- Crush the graham crackers for the cheesecake, mix the batter, cut the strawberries and decorate the cake. The cheesecake needs time to chill, so bake it the evening before.
- Pluck the mint leaves off the stems for the agua fresca, blend the ingredients into a puree and garnish the glasses.
Garden Party for Mother’s Day
