Cherried Alive
This cocktail creates its striking visual effect by calling for home mixologists to carefully dribble the cherry liqueur into the bottom of the glass using the back of a spoon. It may take a few attempts to master. If it doesn’t work perfectly at first, let the cocktail sit; the mixture will naturally separate.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz. (45 ml) mezcal
- 1 oz. (30 ml) fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 oz. (15 ml) simple syrup
- 1 oz. (30 ml) Luxardo cherry liqueur
- 3 Luxardo cherries
Directions:
In a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice, combine the mezcal, lemon juice and simple syrup. Shake until well chilled, about 10 seconds. Strain into a chilled Nick and Nora glass.
Position the back of a cocktail spoon towards the bottom center of the glass, then slowly pour the cherry liqueur over the back of the spoon, allowing it to run down and gently settle at the bottom of the glass. Garnish with the cherries skewered on a cocktail pick and serve. Makes 1 drink.
