It allows the food to come in contact with the fire, without falling though the grates. Especially good for shrimp and scallops. It does require some soaking to clear the holes, but I use a wire brush and it is ready to go. We hang all of our BBQ utensils on hooks in the garage, so storage is not an issue. Could this be possibly used on the stove as say a deep (shallow) frying basket with a skillet?Hi Gayle, It could possibly work so as long as you have a deep skillet that is more than 2" high. We think that you would need to be at least a 4" high pan/pot so that you can fill it up halfway with oil in order to insert this fry pan in.Date published: 2019-05-19
