Rated 1 out of 5 by Sean from Broke on first use Sounds like this might be something others have experienced. On first use one of the little hooks holding the spring loaded mill turn in place snapped off and the other one started to twist/become crooked. And I had OVERCOOKED my potatoes - so I know it wasn't their fault. I contacted W-S support, who have normally been exceptionally helpful for me, but I didn't know who gave me the mill and my registry expired so they were unable to assist me. Womp. Don't buy this mill.Date published: 2018-03-15Rated 5 out of 5 by KitchenExcellence from Sturdy and Beautiful! I researched every food mill out there because I wanted my purchase to be "the best possible item" that would last--and that I wouldn't have to return. Then I thought to try Wms Sonoma's website and was very interested when I saw this one. BUT--I was also very confused between Bobbaloo's review that said it was great and Epicureous' review that said it was a piece of garbage. I decided to go with the trained chef (Bobbaloo) and try this one. BOY, AM I GLAD I DID! I LOVE THIS THING!!! IT'S STURDY, BEAUTIFUL AND WORKS FANTASTIC!! I figured it had to be pretty good because Bobbaloo had used a Foley for years and yet decided on this one when he had to replace the Foley. Epicureous' item was DEFINITELY A FLUKE---or some item altogether different because THIS IS AS STURDY AS THEY COME AND WILL LAST A LIFETIME --AND WORKS LIKE A DREAM. Thank you, Wms Sonoma for such a fine product----definitely not a piece of junk. And because it is such a pleasure to use, I will be using it all the time. YOU WILL LOVE THE QUALITY OF THIS FOOD MILL!! DO NOT HESITATE TO BUY IT--YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID AS IT IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY.Date published: 2017-02-20Rated 5 out of 5 by Bobbaloo from Sturdier than the rest and does the trick I"m a trained chef (but left the gig a few years back). Had an old Foley's Food Mill for years but lost it to the "ex". I must say I do know my tools and research everything I buy. Looked at many offered by William Sonoma and competitors and have to say this thing does what it is supposed to do. These things aren't rocket science and most (including this one) are made in China. I will keep this puppy and I'm sure it will hold up to my vichyssoise (made yesterday) and other soup purees and bisques...for years to come.Date published: 2016-01-01Rated 1 out of 5 by Epicureous from Broke IMMEDIATELY Perhaps it's just related to this one item, but this piece of garbage broke, during its first use, while preparing potatoes for Christmas dinner. WS sells some amazing products, but I definitely would NOT recommend this one.Date published: 2014-12-25Rated 4 out of 5 by TeeLK from Does the job I've used this food mill a couple of times to puree split pea soup. It required some strength to turn the crank (I'm a "senior citizen") but it did a good job. I haven't used it often enough to know if it's durable. It appears to be well made.Date published: 2014-07-13Rated 5 out of 5 by Tetcha from Excellent Food Mill Just finished using the food mill to make pear applesauce. The mill made is simple and fast. My prep time was cut in half. Cleanup was quick and easy. Don't hesitate to purchase this mill for yourself or as a gift!Date published: 2014-02-18
