Rated 2 out of 5 by Zoelife77 from STOPPED WORKING! We bought this coffee maker back in Oct. 2017 and started using it by the end of the year. Today it stopped working. All I see is lots of steam coming out and no more water getting through. Just like the other review states. Something went wrong in China. They better do a quality check asap. The only reason for 2 stars is because WS offered a replacement and free return.Date published: 2018-05-09Rated 1 out of 5 by HES51986 from Not Worth It I received this as a wedding gift and was really excited about using it. After I used it I was less excited. The amount of steam that came out the top of the carafe was so much that it started to settle by the buttons above it. With that amount of steam I assumed the coffee would be hot when I poured a cup. Not the case. I went to make a pot this morning and the thing wouldn't work. This product will be returned.Date published: 2017-12-31Rated 1 out of 5 by jade from Bad coffee! I anxiously awaited this coffee maker for over 2 months! (it was out of stock) The description raved how it makes great coffee and makes it hot! Something a Keurig simply cannot do. Well, the hottest the water ever gets is 168*. A whopping 4* hotter than any Keurig I've tried. What ever happened to a hot cup of coffee?? Also, the lid does not come off. It's hard to clean the pot and so inconvenient to have to dry the whole thing immediately. The hot plate it sits on is tiny. So tiny in fact , my pot slid off and broke after using it a total of 5 times. So sorry I waited so long for such a poor product.Date published: 2017-12-12Rated 1 out of 5 by meesh6884 from HORRIBLE - Don't waste the money This quit working after about 6 months. The steam that came out of it was insane - it would pop open the lid. If you filled it to make 8 or 9 cups of coffee you might get 6. Also - when I went to get my money back from Williams Sonoma I got a response that this is no longer being made (most likely due to the poor quality) so it's odd that it's still for sale. I'm assuming they're trying to unload the remaining ones.Date published: 2017-08-29Rated 1 out of 5 by adaisya from Quit Working I bought this back in March, so we've been using it daily for not even 6 months. One morning it made coffee that came out just warm. The next day, it wouldn't even turn on. Don't waste your money on this!Date published: 2017-08-10Rated 5 out of 5 by ashleymb from Simple, easy to use, nice size, great price! Who knew trying to find a coffee maker that had the features I wanted would be so hard! I searched every website and brand I knew and most coffee makers are all the same. To many features so more possibilities for issues, boring design, to large, poor carafe design/function, etc. The last coffee maker I had was the Cuisinart 12 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker & Hot Water System ( look it up and you will know what I'm talking about). I loved it for a while until the carafe started leaking at the top. It made a mess every time I pored a cup of coffee. The carafe had a plastic ring around the top of the glass which was a horrible design for durability! So that is the biggest reason I purchased this coffee maker from Williams Sonoma, was for the glass carafe that the coffee pored right from the glass. This is one of the only ones on the market with that design and is at a great price! This coffee maker is simple, easy use, nice design, great size, lower price then others, functions how it should. I'm very happy with this coffee maker and would recommend it to others!Date published: 2017-03-26Rated 4 out of 5 by HAJ79 from Good value, best choice In 40 years I have had 4 coffee makers. None have broken, but after 10 years it is time to change. I have 4 requirements; it has to boil the water, have a clock/timer, a permanent filter, and hopefully be reliable. All the machines say they use number 4 paper filters, but all the permanent number 4 filters you can buy separately will not fit every machine. Any other feature is just a bell and whistle waiting to break. Next I looked at the reviews. You have to dig below the summary 4 stars by looking at the distribution of ratings. I was surprised to see a summary rating of 4 but only 60 or 70% rating a machine 3, 4 or 5. But 30 to 40% were giving 1 or 2 ratings because the machines did not work or broke quickly. I began to wonder why manufacturers and retailers did not just drop some of the models where the reviews were so bad. I suppose if people just write reviews but get no refund, they can continue unimpeded. Surprisingly, some of the premium deluxe machines with all the bells and whistles seemed to be the worst. This WS Open Kitchen model met my requirements and had no 1 or 2 ratings, although it did not have a large number of commenters. So I gave it a shot. The machine appears strongly made, is not light or flimsy, and functions properly. The water heats hotter than my previous machines, which results in some steam, but that actually brews better coffee. I held my review for 30 days to make sure my luck continued and nothing went wrong. So I would give this 5 stars. Hopefully it will last years. However, I must deduct one star. One reviewer had broken her carafe and found there were no spares sold. So I immediately checked if they sold spare permanent filters. Parts are not mentioned in the manual, and the manufacturer’s site does not sell any. Too bad, because this permanent filter is not metal but some plastic film that I doubt will last long. I looked on line at number 4 permanent filters. Surprisingly they all have different measurements, which were all larger than the filter in this machine. Then I tried the filter from the machine I am replacing, again too large. Paper I guess will always fit because you can scrunch them up. So, if it fails, I will have to use paper filters, or start the search again. So good luck and enjoy the coffee.Date published: 2017-03-10Rated 5 out of 5 by joan281 from Why pay more? Why pay more when this coffee maker is available. It makes great coffee, has a multitude of functions, and is just the right size for the counter, not taking up too much space like some of the more expensive, bulky ones. It also looks good.Date published: 2017-01-06
