Warm up a winter day with classic European-style hot chocolate. Inspired by traditional French double boilers, our pot makes a rich, creamy drink. Just combine milk and chocolate shavings in the ceramic insert, then place in the water-filled base and heat on the stovetop. The base quickly brings water to a simmer beneath the insert, which gently heats the ingredients to the perfect temperature.  When your hot chocolate is ready, use the insert for serving—it has a stay-cool handle and integrated spout for easy pouring.

Return Policy

At Williams Sonoma, we take great pride in the quality and craftsmanship of our products. Attention to design, materials, safety and construction are our priority. Upon receipt, please inspect your purchase and notify us of any damage; we will arrange for a prompt replacement.

If within 30 days, you are dissatisfied for any reason, you may return your purchase for a refund of the merchandise value. An original receipt or gift receipt is required for all returns and exchanges. Returns with a gift receipt will be refunded in the form of a Merchandise Credit for the amount indicated on the gift receipt. Returns with original receipt will be refunded in the original form of payment, cash and check refunds over $100 will be issued as a company check (may take 14 business days from time of request).

  • Rated 4 out of 5 by from Never burn milk again! I like my coffee hot. I also like a lot of milk with my coffee, like a latte without the foam. So every morning I heat up 8 oz. of milk in a butter warmer size pan. At least 3 out of 5 mornings it boils over and I'm rushing to clean the mess before work. Enter this wonderful little pot. Heats the milk (without that creepy skin) without boiling over. Clean pour and definitely works well for tempering chocolate. Only gave it 4 stars due to the price point being a bit high for something that has very discrete and limited use (heating milk, melting chocolate or cheese).

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite... I rarely write reviews but this is absolutely my favorite! I make my own hot chocolate with a mixture of organic raw cacao butter and raw cacao paste and this is the best way to nicely melt it all together. It's very forgiving and beautiful. As others have mentioned, it is small. I would say it's great for one...or two small sipping hot chocolates. I would rather use a larger double boiler if serving more than two people because the melting process takes a bit but it's worth it. I have also used to make sauces that requires melting the cacao butter and the size is just perfect. I do wish the lid stayed on a little better...not a snug fit (hence I'm labeling as fragile).

    Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed To be fair it didn’t “not perform” but if you have more than 2 cocoa drinkers in the house it is not practical. It only holds enough milk for 2 mugs of cocoa and takes so long to heat the milk that the first 2 will be long gone by the time the second 2 are ready. I wouldn’t say it is worthwhile at full price but on sale, maybe, if you understand its limitations.

  • Can you provide more detailed instructions? How much water? How long should it take? Should the water be audibly boiling? We tried low heat per the video and the milk took forever to warm. More details would be helpful.

    Hi Anonymous, How to use: pour 2 cups of water into the aluminum pot. Place the porcelain stoneware insert inside the aluminum pot taking care not to spill out the water. Put the food into the porcelain insert, about a cup. After that, place the whole set on the stove, making certain the water is heated, but not boiling. The surface of the porcelain stoneware will warm up gradually the contents from the heated water.  This technique is ideal for all foods which should not be exposed to intense heat which need a slow cooking process; such as melting chocolate, chocolate or cheese fondue, creams, sauces, puddings and also creme caramel.
