Williams Sonoma Braising Sauce, 40 Cloves of Garlic
Easy, hassle-free returns online and in-store for eligible items.Learn More
A favorite in Provençal bistros, this rustic dish gets its great flavor from lots of fresh garlic, slowly cooked to a rich, mellow sweetness. Making the French classic is easy with our slow-simmered starter. We start with hand-roasted California garlic, simmering the cloves with chicken and Chardonnay wine. Rosemary, thyme and nutmeg finish the sauce with authentic Gallic flair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by cardiacrn1 from Delicious I am glad I took a chance on buying this after reading reviews i was worried. I cooked it in a crockpot with 2 jars and 4 large chicken breasts. I cooked basmati rice and after shredding the chicken when I came home served it over rice. It is not sour but has a tangy lemon and garlic flavor. My husband and I loved it. I am looking forward to leftovers and glad I purchased 2 jars to have plenty of sauce to spoon over riceDate published: 2018-12-13Rated 1 out of 5 by Juanita from Absolutely TERRIBLE SOUR I am sooo sorry I did not look at the reviews prior to buying. I was in the store today and the sauce looked delicious. IT WAS SOOOO SOUR!! I mean I am sorry I can't get my money back. We threw it out and my stomach is not doing well right now...I always buy brines and rubs but this is just the worst. I am probably going to call the store and ask for a credit or something. I love cooking, have a Bluestar range (LaCornue before) make sauces all the time, I wish I had just made a sauce.Date published: 2018-10-25Rated 1 out of 5 by atinydancer from It was disgusting This tasted nothing like I expected, for something labeled "40 cloves of garlic" there was no garlic taste to it at all, only an overwhelming taste of way too much wine in a sauce that I can't really even describe the flavor, but I couldn't eat it. I would not recommend this product to anyone.Date published: 2015-04-07Rated 5 out of 5 by Principal54 from LOVE THIS SAUCE A person has to love garlic to love this sauce, and with my Polish-Hungarian background, I do! My kids are asking when are we going to have the braised chicken in garlic sauce again????Date published: 2015-01-26Rated 2 out of 5 by snoopymom from Too overpowering This sauce was too overpowering and gave my family a stomach ache after use. Unfortunately, I agree with the other reviews stating a bitter taste and will not purchase this sauce again.Date published: 2014-07-26Rated 2 out of 5 by love2cook7 from Disappointed I was excited to try this sauce since I love 40-clove garlic chicken. This sauce had an unpleasant bitter after taste. I will not buy it again.Date published: 2013-02-19Rated 2 out of 5 by LauraPL from Not the real thing Although not bad, it wasn't great. Lots of garlic flavor yes, but a bit bitter. A from scratch version would have a sweetness that this lacked. It didn't go to waste, but I wouldn't buy it again.Date published: 2013-02-11Rated 4 out of 5 by Sparty416 from Simple to make and tastes good I thought this made a good meal. It did have a strong garlic taste but not the vinegar taste other reviewers have noted. I made mine with thick cut boneless skinless chicken. I threw them in the Dutch oven and covered with the sauce. When they were done, I shredded the chicken and then served over egg noodles. I would make it again but maybe wait to see if it goes on sale. It was a gift.Date published: 2012-12-31
