Weck glass canning jars have been a mainstay in European kitchens since the 1900s, when German merchant Johann Weck pioneered the science of water-bath canning. Weck jars are still a reliable favorite of European home cooks for preserving and storing foods. Wide mouths make these tulip jars simple to fill, while rubber-ringed glass lids create an airtight seal that’s easy to check at a glance. Attractive enough to bring to the table for serving, the storage jars are perfect for everything from infused vinegars to homemade preserves. They’re also handy for storing dry goods in the pantry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DomiJ from Perfect Multiuse Jars I have been using Weck jars for many years now, and I love how versatile they are. Usually, I pressure can with them (be sure to use 4 clips when canning) and I have found that the rubber rings can be used repeatedly for this purpose until they are too stretched out to be reliable. They last and last, and when you need to replace them, they are easily ordered. It is easy to see the seal on the jar - the little rubber tab points down, and I rarely have ever had a failure. The fault was mine when there was a failure - never the jar. Anyone interested in pursuing a life of elegant frugality should invest in a few sets of these jars. They are good for every kind of storage and cut down on what goes in the garbage. Of course, they are feel from the chemicals found in various other types of cans, too.Date published: 2017-11-05Rated 5 out of 5 by Linda9853 from Make Delightful Gifts filled with Goodness I love Weck Jars and have lots, and have gifted lots. I fill them with soup, candies, cookies, dry mixes and even make them into snow globes using ideas from Pinterest. These jars were filled with Nacho Cheese Dip, raffia wrapped around the top edge, a card attached, and gifted. I always include instructions on how to properly remove and reattach clamps, i.e., set clamp on top then push clamp down the jar. This eliminates risks of chipping the lids sharp inner edge. Weck offers plastic lids for families with small children too. They come in 3 sizes that match the of their jar openings - small, med & large.Date published: 2017-01-06Rated 5 out of 5 by KGolka from Excellence! These jars are cute and easy to use. Is the rubber ring 100% rubber? What plastics does it contain? What is it’s full composition? Is every part of the jar made in Germany or are different parts of the glass made elsewhere and if so, where?Hi Colleen, The rubber ring is 100% rubber and the clamp is stainless steel. These do not contain plastic and are BPA-free. All parts are made in Germany.Date published: 2019-02-19
