Rated 2 out of 5 by MTman406 from Doesn’t smoke that well I bought this about a month ago and it works great for grilling. But you cannot slow smoke on it very well doesn’t put out that great of a Smokey taste. The temperature always runs high for me. Also the heat from having it turned up all the way put some dents in the metal. For the price I would expect it to be much better. But it does the job.Date published: 2019-07-06Rated 5 out of 5 by Vokey from Love the portability of unit Bought the unit about 3 months ago and love it. It makes the best ribs.Date published: 2019-06-29Rated 2 out of 5 by NE4now from So good, but a couple MAJOR flaws. Got the Tailgater as a gift a month ago & so far we have smoked Chicken, Ribs, Sausages, Steaks, incredible no-flip burgers and even turned some Corned beef briskets into smoked pastrami (amazing). The finished results from thing have been Fantastic! I've used my propane grill once since getting the traeger and all I kept saying was how much better the food would have been in the pellet grill. I am now a BIG FAN of pellet-grilling/smoking, but almost wish I had returned this model while I still had the chance. Just for these reasons: 1st, The VENTS ON THE BACK ARE HORRIBLE! Who thought 2 big oval holes was a great idea? Only could be someone who lives where there is no wind or rain... I am trying to come up with a hack to fix this issue (and it is a MAJOR issue)! 2nd, mine runs hot when set on lower temps. I did adjust my P-setting and it seems better but time will tell. 3rd, Temperature swings are pretty nuts. It is not uncommon to see 300 degrees when set at 225. I honestly think this is due to the big holes on the back allowing even a slight breeze to blow right in and throw things out of whack. 4th, as many have said, the pellet hopper is small and this issue is compounded by the fact that it "runs dry" while there are still pellets in the hopper because they dont slide down into the auger. (yes, I have only used Traeger brand pellets - Texas Beef blend is a Favorite). 5th, Cooking area is fine for most situations but for this price, a shelf should be included.Date published: 2019-06-19Rated 5 out of 5 by HRBBQ from Great Travel Grill I bought this back in the fall during football season last year. This grill did not disappoint! It’s cooked some of the best wings I’ve ever had [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]Date published: 2019-05-20Rated 4 out of 5 by Mike smoke from Tailgater I have had this for about 6 months, does it's job but the legs to fold are anything but easy, there are 3 twist knobs on each leg. The handles ALWAYS come loose and im afraid when carrying the handle is gonna putt right thru the barrel. Any updates or upgrades on handle parts?Date published: 2019-01-28Rated 5 out of 5 by James Kidwell from Lifer After a few cooks trying different things on the new grill I will never go back to the old way of grilling!
