- More about Staub
Staub traces its origin to the Alsace region of France, where founder Francis Staub designed his first enameled pot while working in an old French artillery factory in 1974. With the goal of creating the perfect pot for cooking the region's traditional hearty soups, stews and braises, he combined cast iron, the most popular material of the time, with the latest enameling technology available. Today, Staub still makes its cookware at a traditional atelier in France, casting each pot in an individual sand mold, which is heated to 800°F and destroyed after use. The exterior enamel coating is made with glass powder and mineral pigments, applied in two or three coats to generate brilliant glossy colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mandevillecook from Great on the Big Green Egg I bought this roaster and year ago and have used it all the time. But it's best use is on the Green Egg. It comes out juicy and brown and a wonderful smokey flavor. And it is easy to use.Date published: 2019-01-12Rated 5 out of 5 by JTom4Cats from Best way to Roast a Chicken I have been using the beer can method for several years to roast chickens, great method. I am a huge fan of Staub cookware and was the benefits if having a section of cast iron inside the chicken for quicker roasting. I rubbed some oil on the outside of the bird, used some seasoning to stick to the skin and roasted at 325. The chicken cooked much quicker using the vertical roaster. I was also rewarded with some great roasting juices collected at the bottom of the roaster which I used for gravy and then broth in my leftover soup. This is now my preferred method of cooking a chicken.Date published: 2018-08-06Rated 5 out of 5 by Pzilla from Great in the oven and on the grill. I bought two of these to replace my Weber chicken roasters. I love them. We've used them in the oven and on the charcoal grill. We've used them with the breast facing up and down. The chicken is always juicy. You can roast your veggies in a separate with the juices from the bottom of the roaster. Use a thermometer to verify your meat temperature and everything should turn out fine. Happy cooking ;).Date published: 2017-10-17Rated 5 out of 5 by ChristineGkitchen from WOWOWOWOWO! Initially I was very annoyed that there were no instructions included. When I buy a piece of equipment I would appreciate some instructions. Do you put this in a cold oven with or without the chicken on it? Do you put it in the oven after its been preheated? I keep finding conflicting information online. After I got over being annoyed, I decided to put the bird on there at a preheated 375 oven and just go for it, of course praying I don't crack it. It was so moist and juicy and very flavorful. I find that this cooked the chicken to perfection because of the cast iron spike being inside. OMG I can not tell you how amazing the chicken came out. I cant wait to try a duck!! If you love good food GET THIS PAN! After eating that delicious meal last night I decided to forgive Staub and email customer service for some concrete instructions! LOL.... Oh and cleans up like a dream it looks brand new again. Im planning on using it once a week.Date published: 2016-05-18Rated 5 out of 5 by Wench34 from Wonderful, easy, moist chicken! I just cooked on this Staub vertical roaster a chicken that was so moist, so beautiful, so aromatic...I told my husband I will cook one a week as it was just....perfect! Breast meat so juicy and full of flavor! Cleanup was simple and quick! I used the recipe in the instruction booklet and had a 5 pound chicken that had more than enough room in the roaster. Plenty of room for any juices to be contained too. Be sure to rub the inside of the bird with herbs and lemon juice and you will have a real treat! No sticking at all on the pan. I love all my Staub! I got the grey shade, as it matches several other grey Staub pieces I have. Highly recommend! LOVE LOVE LOVE!Date published: 2016-03-01Rated 5 out of 5 by mrspb from The "Naughty" Way to Roast Poultry What fun this piece is. I'm all about efficiency. This item promotes even browning and faster cooking. I love the quality of Staub and have used it to equip my kitchen with no regrets. I love the little spouts to pour off juices for gravy or au jus. It was a cinch to clean- as all Staub enamled cast iron items. This is a huge upgrade from my cooling rack in the sheet pan method- the cooling rack is IMPOSSIBLE to clean. Love this. Will recommend to anyone who will listen! Also- the greyish color is quite modern but lasting in style.Date published: 2016-01-07Rated 3 out of 5 by Martyn from Beautiful but Flawed Stab products are beautiful and do a great job. I don't understand, though, why Staub doesn't advise brushing oil on whatever surface to really make it nonstick. Staub out of the box is NOT nonstick if you don't oil the surface you will end up with a baked on caramelized mess that will not come off. This has happened twice to me, destroying the item. You know the cost of discarding StaubDate published: 2015-08-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Barto425 from BEST Chicken Ever This is one of the very best purchases I've made. This roaster makes the best chicken I've ever had. I just use olive oil, inside and out, and loads of lemon -pepper. 450 degrees for 15 minutes and then turn down the oven to 350 degrees. cook about 15 minutes per pound. Oh my....it is delicious. The pan cleans up easily too. We have roast chicken almost every week now. Use a roasting chicken, not a fryer, for best results.Date published: 2015-06-12
